Christmas Eve is coming soon, but there is no joy in the Kriegen home. A year prior, Clara lost her husband, Joshua, to a sudden heart attack, leaving their son, eleven-year-old Donald, without a father.
Now, Clara and Donald both feel lost, and Clara is dreading Christmas. When yet another tragedy strikes, she can't help but question the goodness of God. How could God take her husband away? How could He take her son's dog, just before Christmas? How could He leave them so alone?
Just when things seem darkest, however, a bit of good luck lands on their front porch. A mother and daughter want to rent the old cottage in the Kriegen backyard, and Clara certainly needs the cash.
There's something different about Miriam Schenken and her daughter, Shirley. When Donald falls ill, they seem to be Clara's saving grace. Christmas seems like it might be a disaster, and yet a miracle occurs that reignites Clara's passion for her loving God. The holiday season is a time to rejoice and give thanks. It is a time for miracles ... if only we believe.
