This catalogue accompanies the first retrospective exhibition of Alfred William Hunt's work for more than one hundred years. It includes essays on his life and work, and on his role in the history of the Victorian landscape watercolour. Each exhibit is fully discussed and illustrated in colour and an appendix includes an inventory of the contents of Hunt's studio, including 225 sketchbooks, given to the Ashmolean Museum by his daughters.
