Egypt is known as the land of mystery and antiquity. She is portrayed in God's Word as a land of refuge, tyrannical slavery, and judgment. Of all of the glory given to gold gilded Pharaoh's and the engineering marvel of the pyramids, God would choose this land to show His wonders. The Egypt of antiquity was a place of technology, mathematics, and military might. She was wealthy, beautiful, and had a vast trade network. In all of her splendor, she was home to the worship of over two-thousand False gods. Treasure hunters have sifted through her sands for thousands of years, and yet the real treasure of Egypt is found within God's Word. The book of Exodus prefigures Jesus the Messiah as the coming Sacrificial Lamb. It also illustrates the framework that Christians can follow throughout our walk with the one true God. As we examine scripture, we will attempt to uncover these priceless treasures found within God's word by sifting through the historical sands of time to examine evidence and biblical facts left behind from the confrontation between our Creator and Culture.
