Sixteen-year-old Danny Jones has magical powers not seen since the middle ages. And now a mysterious group, known only as recruiters, wants him captured and turned into one of their ruthless enforcers, and failing that, killed. His friend and protector is murdered trying to defend him. Danny, with the help of his new friend Helen, a young and powerful sorceress in her own right, are trying to stay alive, avenge their friend, and free the people the recruiters have enslaved, including Helen's older brother.
