Living in the wilds of Wyoming gives a person a different perspective on life. Summers can see the mercury reach a hundred plus while winters can often see temps reach 40 to 60 below for weeks at a time. Simple Poetic Purpose is about the life of a Park Ranger and the unique ways in which he sees the harshness as well as the solitude and beauty in the plateau regions known as Wyoming. Patrick has a way of putting the reader smack dab in the middle of the moment and then; never has an untimely ending. Patrick's endings are often times put in with a twist that leaves the reader wanting more, but realizing how unique and thought provoking it really is. The seduction of Wyoming's land and animals are planted in each and every one of Patrick's poems. The reader can visualize and imagine this great land of mountains soaring to fourteen thousand feet and above and the breath taking beauty of fields upon fields of wild flowers with Bison and Grizzlies and Wolfs sharing the same lands. Along with the snow capped peaks that never melt away and trails that seem to never end; the silence of solitude delivers the reader into the vast and wonderful Wyoming wilderness that Patrick calls Home.
