Marty Kessler is a prototypical second-generation Jewish boychick who finds himself always trying to do the 'right thing.' Follow Marty from college to graduate school, then to a brief academic career and then to a willing but totally unknowing partnership with Victor Sadof, a fictional version of Bernard Madoff. Marty survives the scandal and ends up still wondering who he really is and what he really wants.
