Luke O'Dwyer's father abandoned him and his brothers and his mother when he was just a young boy. He wanted to take care of his family. It seems, however, that the rage-filled mistakes of one night would take him forever from his loved ones. This is the story of a boy who becomes a man in the depths of despair that is Hell's Kitchen during the Depression. His character is admirable even when his actions are not. His search for truth and redemption will take you into the darkest places of his own human shortcomings; as well as into the moral depravity of all those around him. He loves beyond reason and his hurts will grab you from the pages. He grapples with the deepest of moral and spiritual issues in a way that is as profound as it is simple. Truth always finds a way out.
