"Training...Horseback Riding" is written for children and adolescents who have learned to ride and are beginning to train. It is intended as a training companion and workbook. The question: "Training -but how?" is answered in an age appropriate and sophisticated manner. Topics include goals and motivations needed for young riders to succeed, the significance of the psyche, how to build performance for shows and how to cope with performance pressure. They find out why good conditioning is important, how to learn a new technique step by step, and how a rider achieves good balance. In addition there are suggestions for self-monitoring and correcting mistakes, as well as documenting personal achievements. A variety of information about the sport of horseback riding and training inspire the young rider to become actively involved in this sport. As in the previous book "Learning Horseback Riding", the little horse "Max" accompanies the reader throughout the book, and offers tips and suggestions, even for exercises outside of the riding arena.
