When cicadas appear in a small Central Kentucky town on a hot, July afternoon, another species, larger, aggressive and more deadly, emerge from the bowels of the earth and immediately terrorize the small community. Only an old man, a scientist, knows a secret that will stop them. The question is, will he be able to stay alive long enough to try his methods and means against them?
