When old Mister Mole awakens to smoke filling his hole he discovers that a stone in his stove has broken. Mister Mole will have to make the trip down the steep bank to the cave below to find a replacement stove. THe journey is difficult for old Mister Mole, and just when he thinks he cannot complete the task, his good friend Otter arrives and helps him to solve his problem.
