Climate change, weeds and increasing pressure from Samba Deer represent some of the greatest threats to rainforest in south-eastern Australia. The Rainforest Restoration Manual and accompanying CD-ROM will become the essential guide for management agencies and local communities to undertake successful rainforest restoration of a large number of rainforest communities listed as threatened under Victorian, New South Wales and Commonwealth legislation. The manual presents detailed restoration methods in easily followed steps while the CD-ROM contains background information including history, theory and philosophy, principles and a large number of appendices with very useful technical information. This work is based on data collected over the last 20 years and covers all rainforest types from the coast to the mountains in the south-east corner bioregion and contains a propagation manual for littoral rainforests, subtropical rainforest, warm temperate rainforest, gallery rainforest, dry rainforest, gully rainforest and cool temperate rainforests. The procedures for rainforest restoration are presented in a logical series of nine steps covering all current and new restoration methods adapted to the local specific compliments of individual rainforest formations. The Rainforest Restoration Manual will serve a broad audience with all levels of ability and provides a self-navigation guide to undertaking rainforest restoration.
