Abstract: A reference guide for parents provides facts, information, and guidelines regarding vitamins and other nutrients needed by their children from infancy to adolescence, for health promotion and disease prevention. The material is organized under 5 sections: 1) the characteristics and functions of vitamins and other nutrients (minerals, macronutrients), the vitamin needs of children, and hypo- and hypervitaminosis; 2) infant feeding, food myths, and nutritional needs from breast milk to table foods; 3) healthful and unhealthful junk foods; 4) special foods for children having food allergies, and other special children (diabetics, hperactivity, overweight, constipation, under-achievement, etc.; 5) and childhood disease prevention, the importance of nutrition during various illnesses, and the interactions of vitamins with children's medicines.
