A large number of Australians spend the Second World War in Italy - as POWs and as escapees in hiding or fighting with the partisans. Meanwhile, numerous Italian POWs spent much of the war in Australia as farm labour, whilst many Italian-born Australians were placed in Internment Camps. But, despite the difficulties, these experiences produced many pleasures and forged some great friendships.
