Captain Demetri and his two fellow Guard Riders are searching for Jesse's squad, spreading the word of a reward just outside the swampland of District Two, where Jesse, Silas, Rae and Parvel are headed. When Silas, Rae and Parvel go missing, Jesse is faced with finding them with the help of Owen, a member of another squad. They finally discover their friends in the land occupied by giants, but before they can mount a rescue, Jesse and Owen are captured by the giants and put under the watch of a gentle giant named Castor.
