Following the end of World War II, Berlin was a divided city with the Americans and Russians fighting each other, attempting to control the city. Meanwhile, here in the USA, a product of the war era, John L. Bannister was raised by his mother, following the death of his father in a car accident in Berlin. Major Bannister had just arrested a German mercenary for war crimes.
Kurt Schmidt, also a product of the war, was raised by his mother. His father, a German mercenary, also died following the war’s end but for different reasons.
Strange as it may seem, years later, Kurt became a business partner with John L. Bannister, knowing John’s father was responsible for his own father’s death. The legitimate business of Bannister’s was used as a front for Kurt’s illicit dealings. With Kurt’s scheming, the business fell on hard times. As a result, John attempted to keep the construction business running by borrowing large sums of money from several banks. The short of it, John was convicted of bank fraud and sent to prison. He lost everything. His family fell apart.
He knew what he had to do to get even. He planned everything needed for his revenge, but like everything else, the plans of mice and men...happenstance.
