The Pixies were the quintessential rock band of the late 80s and early 90s, responsible for five highly influential records released between 1987 and 1991. The band generated a raucous post-punk fury of fuzzy guitars, stinging basslines and lead singer Frank Black's extraordinarily unbridled screams. They influenced countless acts with their unique sound, everyone from Nirvana and Radiohead to the White Stripes and the Vines. In Fool the World, writers Josh Frank and Caryn Ganz tell the entire Pixies story - from their early days in Boston and their breakup in the early 90s to their reunion and sell out world tour in 2004 - in the words of the band themselves and those who influenced and were influenced by them. Contributors to the story include not only Black, bassist Kim Deal, guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering, but music industry luminaries like Dave Grohl, David Bowie, Neil Young, PJ Harvey and more.
