Describes a Terrain Analysis Toolbox of six user-friendly programs that provide decision support for resource managers using the new series of Ontario base maps. These maps, available at 1:20,000 scale for most of northern Ontario, contain up to 19 layers of information. The programs were developed using geographic information system (GIS) technology and the Arc Macro Language. The Toolbox will allow use of various information layers as data sources for each of the tools: the Variable Width Buffering tool, which delineates buffers form lakes and streams; the Slope and Aspect Tools, which allow production of plots of slope and aspect variation on a single map sheet; the Road Profiling Tool; the Watershed Delineation Tool, composed of three programs that allow the user to produce watersheds over a maximum of 16 base maps; and the Culvert Calculation Tool for determining required culvert sizes.
