The Struggle of the Shi‘is in Indonesia is a pioneering work. It is the first comprehensive scholarly examination in English of the development of Shiism in Indonesia. It focuses primarily on the important period between 1979 and 2004 – a period of nearly a quarter of a century that saw the notable dissemination of Shi’i ideas and a considerable expansion of the number of Shi’i adherents in Indonesia. Since Islam in Indonesia is overwhelmingly Sunni, this development of Shiism in a predominantly Sunni context is a remarkable phenomenon that calls for careful, critical investigation. There is also an important examination of the principal ideas underlying the Madhab Ahl al-Bayt, the Imamate and Imam Madhi, Ja‘fari jurisprudence and ritual piety. Appropriately, in his discussion, Zulkifli provides a succinct outline of contrasts with Sunni ideas and practice. He also examines the publishing efforts that underpinned the dissemination of Shi’i ideas and the founding of IJABI (Ikatan Jamaah Ahlul Bait Indonesia) in July 2000 for the propagation of Ahl al-Bayt teachings. Given the Indonesian context, Zulkifli is also concerned with Sunni reactions to these Shi’i developments – a story that continues to unfold to the present. This book as a work of great value and significance for the continuing understanding of the richness and complexity of Indonesian Islam.

This book provides a systematic way of how to make better decisions in water resources management. The applications of three weighting methods namely rating, ranking, and ratio are discussed in this book. Additionally, data mining on keywords is presented using three popular scholarly databases: Science Direct, Scopus, and SciVerse. Four abbreviated keywords (MCDM, MCDA, MCA, MADM) representing multi-criteria decision-making were used and these three databases were searched for different popular weighting methods for a period of 13 years (2000-2012). The book provides also a review of weighting methods applied in various multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods and also presents survey results on priority ranking of watershed management criteria undertaken by 30 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Empat tokoh seni bina yang dibincangkan di dalam buku ini, iaitu arkitek Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van de Rohe, LE Corbusier dan Walter Gropius ialah beberapa orang tokoh seni bina yang banyak menyumbangkan fikiran dan kerja ke arah perkembangan seni bina moden. Walaupun kegiatan seni bina mereka boleh dikatakan sealiran dengan seni bina moden tetapi mereka dipisahkan oleh keadaan dan suasana yang berlainan daripada tokoh-tokoh lain. Faktor-faktor inilah yang memupuk asas penting bagi terbentuknya idea dan pendekatan seni bina yang agak berlainan sehingga lahirlah identiti yang tersendiri dan unik di dalam sejarah perkembangan seni bina moden. Sumbangan keempat-empat tokoh tersebut memang tidak dapat dinafikan lagi. Ini berdasarkan ratusan bangunan yang telah dibina, di antaranya ada yang telah dianggap sebagai "masterpiece" yang sering menjadi bahan rujukan dan kajian penting pelajar seni bina di seluruh dunia. Oleh itu, tidaklah menghairankan sekiranya idea dan fikiran mereka banyak mempengaruhi generasi muda selepas mereka. Dengan tujuan untuk membolehkan pelajar atau sesiapa yang berminat di dalam bidang seni bina mempelajari tokoh-tokoh inilah maka buku ini ditulis. Perbincangan ditumpukan kepada latar belakang, pelajaran awal dan perbincangan ringkas tentang beberapa kerja penting daripada beberapa rangkaian bangunan yang direkabantuk oleh mereka, diikuti dengan biografi ringkas, senarai bangunan dan projek tokoh-tokoh tersebut untuk memudahkan pelajar-pelajar memahaminya. Tak ada yang menyangka, Badrodin Haiti bisa mencapai karier puncak di kepolisian RI. Kecelakaan sejarah-lah yang membuat sosok pendiam dan bersahaja itu akhirnya terpilih menjadi Kapolri.
