This book covers some of the most serious mental health conditions that top the global disease burden and affect 3% of the general population. However, most research on psychotic disorders is undertaken in the West, and few studies have been systematically carried out in Asia despite global interest in regional differences. This work offers a unique and coherent account of these disorders and their treatment in Hong Kong over the last thirty years. Chen and his research programme’s pioneering work has ranged from the impact of early intervention on outcomes and relapse prevention, to the renaming of psychosis to reduce stigma. The studies have contributed to wider international debates on the optimal management of the condition. Their investigations in semantics and cognition, as well as cognition-enhancing exercise interventions, have provided novel insights into deficits encountered in psychotic disorders and how they might be ameliorated. The research has also explored subjective experiences of psychosis and elicited unique perspectives in patients of Asian origin. English summary: This book aims at a comprehensive understanding of diverging urban rejuvenation practices and gentrification processes in New York City, Berlin and Vienna. Regulative and supportive mechanisms at policy and planning level have been identified through a comparative analysis of urban rejuvenation policies and actors' embeddedness. Those mechanisms enable the development of contextualised parameters that support projection attempts of future gentrification processes at the neighbourhood level. As a result, a reflective understanding of gentrification and policy recommendations are drawn at a general level. The recommendations refer to the political understanding of gentrification and its role in urban development. This analysis argues that cities should include gentrification as a driving force in urban policies. However, processes of gentrification require mediation and monitoring by public authorities who should be aware of the risk of social fragmentation. As a consequence, cities should move towards a social entrepreneurial city that moves beyond the simple distribution of financial resources and responsibilities and ensures social responsibility within the force field of ongoing neoliberal forces. She later marries a Christian man, and they have problems with finances and her husband's poor health. She realizes that these problems are opportunities to grow in God's grace and experience His faithfulness. Yvonne Posthuma became a Christian at the age of twelve through the ministry of the American Sunday School Union. She is the mother of two sons, who are in ministry, and a grandmother of four: Daniel, Melody, Alyssa, and Joshua. She went to a one-room schoolhouse through sixth grade. She graduated from Bear Lake High School in Bear Lake, Michigan, and Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Lunch Bunch Toastmasters for five years, and served as Vice-President of Education for two years, and President for one year. She was a member of the West Michigan Fellowship of Christian Writers for one year, and is currently a member of Word Weavers of West Michigan. She was an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Calvin College for twenty-one years. She now enjoys her retirement.

Leah and Rachel were sisters who were married to the same man. How did this happen? It was love at first sight for this man Jacob. He had swindled his brother Esau out of the inheritance that rightfully belonged to him, now he was a man on the run, from a brother who threatened to murder him. He ran to his uncles home and fell in love with his beautiful daughter Rachel. His uncle Laban agreed to give Rachel in marriage to Jacob in exchange for seven years of hard work. However, on the wedding night, Laban switched sisters, and the next morning, Jacob woke up to find the ugly sister Leah in his bed. Leah would spend the rest of her life having babies and trying to win the heart of a man who could never love her. The man who bought him was a high official in the land. He put Joseph in charge of his household, but his alluring wife could not keep her eyes off this handsome young slave with the great body. When Joseph refused to sleep with Mrs. Potiphar, she cried rape and caused him to be imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. But God was with this young man, and everywhere he was placed, he was put in a position of authority, until he was promoted to become the prime minister in the land of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. Naomi was a bitter mother-in-law who left own land when her husband took his family to a strange land away from the protection of the God they served. Naomi lost her entire family in this foreign country, her husband, and her two sons. She blamed God for her troubles, but what seemed at first like a bad situation, turned out to be a blessing because God had given her a daughter-in-law who loved her and vowed never to leave her. Her daughter-in-law Ruth married a rich man who was able to provide for both of them. This blessing only took place when they left the place of death to go to the place of life. Naomi and Ruth returned to Bethlehem. Then there was the case of the princess who was raped by her eldest brother, but their father, King David, did not do anything about the situation. In 1991 the collapse of the Communist Party and the dissolution of the Soviet Union launched the republics of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan into an unexpected self-declared independence and a precarious, uncertain future. Emerging from almost seventy-five years of Soviet tutelage all three republics embarked on a process of radical change. Central Asian women's lives have been profoundly affected during the huge upheavals of sovietization in the 1920s and democratisation in the 1990s, but their experiences have gone unresearched and undocumented. If Central Asia was generally considered to be the forgotten world of the Soviet Union, Central Asian women constitute the 'lost voices' of Central Asia. Yvonne Corcoran-Nantes offers a timely analysis into the lives of Muslim women during the Soviet era, and considers the impact of the shift from Soviet communism to Western capitalist ideals and its impact on gender relations in the region. The uneasy synthesis between socialism and Islam under the Soviet regime offered many women considerable status and personal freedom in public life but these gains have been rapidly eroded in the process of 'democratization'. Opportunities for women have entered into serious decline in terms of employment, education and socio-political status. Unlike many commentators, she offers a convincing argument that the main threat to the socio-political status of women in Central Asia is not Islamic fundamentalism, but the imposition of free market principles and Western 'liberal democratic' ideals. Woven into the text is a also subtle and nuanced analysis of the ways in which Central Asian women negotiate feminism, whether ushered in by Soviet women during sovietization, or by western NGOs in the region today. As a special consultant to UNESCAP, the author was one of the first researchers to undertake substantial research in the republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in the post-independence period and this book is based on her interviews with women from the region from all sections of Central Asian society.
