Yours Is the Kingdom is a compilation of stories taken exclusively from the Scriptures of the Holy Bible. It is a story of a king, His Kingdom, and an invitation to become a member of His royal family. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He intended for Earth to become a territory and a replica of Heaven. Jesus refers to this when He taught us to pray "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." God created man in His image to have dominion over the earth. Adam and Eve enjoyed a very special fellowship with God and His Presence was with them in the garden. Everything they needed was provided. Satan's deception caused mankind to lose dominion. Consequently, Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden and Satan's evil influence began to rule on earth. Yet the Lord God had a plan of redemption and restoration. His plans of triumph were ordained before the foundations of the world and prophesied throughout the Bible. God chose the family line of Abraham to bring a Savior, Jesus, into this world. The stories of Abraham's family recount a series of lessons in triumph and defeat, obedience and rebellion, and of promise and restoration. Jesus came to restore the dominion of the Kingdom of God to Earth. Through the pages of this book, the love of God for His creation and His desire to live among us unfolds. Jesus redeems mankind to their original relationship with the Almighty God and restores man's place in the Garden of Eden-a place of rest, provision, and complete reliance on the Creator.
Assessment is an essential part of mental-health nursing and as such a core learning requirement for pre-registration nursing students. Getting assessment right is essential for the nursing student in order for them to become an effective practitioner. Many books on assessment are very theoretical. This is a practical, hands-on guide to the assessment process, underpinned by the latest evidence. The book explains the core principles through running case studies, so that readers can see how each decision they make impacts on the person in their care. Key features: Assessment principles are applied across a variety of modern nursing settings that you may find yourself working in as a registered nurse Each chapter is linked to the relevant NMC standards and Essential Skills Clusters so you know you are meeting the professional requirements Activities throughout help you to think critically and develop essential graduate skills.
An innovative student-centred approach is taken throughout the text, with numerous worked examples and self-test questions to stimulate self-directed learning. Frequent case studies highlight the importance of maths to pharmacy, and help students to make that crucial connection between theory and practice, while key take-home messages for each section are summarised in concise learning-point boxes.
The first woman elected superintendent of schools in Rowan County, Kentucky, Cora Wilson Stewart (1875–1958) realized that a major key to overcoming the illiteracy that plagued her community was to educate adult illiterates. To combat this problem, Stewart opened up her schools to adults during moonlit evenings in the winter of 1911. The result was the creation of the Moonlight Schools, a grassroots movement dedicated to eliminating illiteracy in one generation. Following Stewart’s lead, educators across the nation began to develop similar literacy programs; within a few years, Moonlight Schools had emerged in Minnesota, South Carolina, and other states. Cora Wilson Stewart and Kentucky’s Moonlight Schools examines these institutions and analyzes Stewart’s role in shaping education at the state and national levels. To improve their literacy, Moonlight students learned first to write their names and then advanced to practical lessons about everyday life. Stewart wrote reading primers for classroom use, designing them for rural people, soldiers, Native Americans, prisoners, and mothers. Each set of readers focused on the knowledge that individuals in the target group needed to acquire to be better citizens within their community. The reading lessons also emphasized the importance of patriotism, civic responsibility, Christian morality, heath, and social progress. Yvonne Honeycutt Baldwin explores the “elusive line between myth and reality” that existed in the rhetoric Stewart employed in order to accomplish her crusade. As did many educators engaged in benevolent work during the Progressive Era, Stewart sometimes romanticized the plight of her pupils and overstated her successes. As she traveled to lecture about the program in other states interested in addressing the problem of illiteracy, she often reported that the Moonlight Schools took one mountain community in Kentucky “from moonshine and bullets to lemonade and Bibles.” All rhetoric aside, the inclusive Moonlight Schools ultimately taught thousands of Americans in many under-served communities across the nation how to read and write. Despite the many successes of her programs, when Stewart retired in 1932, the crusade against adult illiteracy had yet to be won. Cora Wilson Stewart presents the story of a true pioneer in adult literacy and an outspoken advocate of women’s political and professional participation and leadership. Her methods continue to influence literacy programs and adult education policy and practice.

While films such as Rambo, Thelma and Louise and Basic Instinct have operated as major points of cultural reference in recent years, popular action cinema remains neglected within contemporary film criticism. Spectacular Bodies unravels the complexities and pleasures of a genre often dismissed as `obvious' in both its pleasure and its politics, arguing that these controversial films should be analysed and understood within a cinematic as well as a political context. Yvonne Tasker argues that today's action cinema not only responds to the shifts in gendered, sexual and racial identities which took place during the 1980s, but reflects the influences of other media such as the new video culture. Her detailed discussion of the homoeroticism surrounding the muscleman hero, the symbolic centrality of blackness within the crime narrative, and the changing status of women within the genre, addresses the constitution of these identities through the shifting categories of gender, class, race, sex, sexuality and nation. Spectacular Bodies also examines the ambivalence of supposedly secure categories of popular cinema, questioning the existing terms of film criticism in this area and addressing the complex pleasures of this neglected form.
In Performing O'Neill, Yvonne Shafer talks with the most important actors and directors who interpreted O'Neill in the 20th century: Jason Robards, Jane Alexander, Fritz Weaver, James Earle Jones, Theresa Wright, Gloria Foster, Ted Mann, and Arvin Brown, to name just a few. Actors like Robards talk about their first encounters with the master and their interpretations of roles like Hickey in "The Iceman Cometh" and James Tyrone in "Long Day's Journey Into Night." Directors talk about the challenges they face in bringing O'Neill's dark and compelling vision of American life to the stage and making it relevant for audiences in the 21st century. The work is a lively collection of interviews in the Paris Review tradition constructed by one of the foremost O'Neill scholars writing today.

This is an exciting book which describes a coming event where billons of people will suddenly vanish from sight. It will be utter chaos as family members search for their loved ones. Some may ask, did aliens snatch them away? Bible scholars call this the Rapture of Christians, when Jesus will appear in the heavens, give a great shout which will be followed by the loud blast from a trumpet. He will snatch His people from what is about to take place on planet earth. Then life will never be the same here anymore. Mrs. Rose wrote some parts of the book as fiction which will leave you in awe and amazement. She also describes the majestic return of Christ, when the heavens will open and Christ comes riding on a white stallion with a heavenly host following Him. This is truly a great book, which you will want to read more than once.
This book explores the social practice of literacy, numeracy and language and its implications for teaching and learning adult basic skills. Leading international experts argue that literacy, numeracy and language are more than just a set of skills or techniques, but are shaped by the social and cultural context within which they are taking place; the meanings they have for users; and the purposes they serve. This shifts the focus from a narrow, functional and externally imposed definition of literacy, numeracy and language learning, to more open and numerous definitions that focus on what people do with their knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of contexts. Adult Literacy, Numeracy and Language shows how the social practice approach to learning and teaching can be used to develop more inclusive views of adult literacy, numeracy and language. Bringing together the views of researchers, policy makers and practitioners, it helps readers to develop an understanding of contemporary policy developments and encourages them to examine their own practice as adult basic education teachers, in order to respond more effectively to the needs of their students. This book is a valuable resource for practitioners, researchers and students on courses in adult and continuing education (particularly basic skills), postgraduate students, and researchers in the field of post-compulsory education.
Tragedy strikes a family, and the father rejects the mother's entire family. She losses her zest for life, and their daughters, Yvonne and Mary Ellen, live with a fear of rejection. Would their parents reject them, too? Mary Ellen walks away from everything that she sees as unpleasant, and her parents don't discipline her. She later marries, walks out on two husbands, and divorces them. She also rejects two of her children, leading to rejection going to the third and fourth generation. Yvonne tries to avoid rejection by pleasing her parents, but her father abuses her. In the midst of this turmoil, Yvonne experiences God's grace. She now talks to Him about her problems. She later marries a Christian man, and they have problems with finances and her husband's poor health. She realizes that these problems are opportunities to grow in God's grace and experience His faithfulness. Yvonne Posthuma became a Christian at the age of twelve through the ministry of the American Sunday School Union. She is the mother of two sons, who are in ministry, and a grandmother of four: Daniel, Melody, Alyssa, and Joshua. She went to a one-room schoolhouse through sixth grade. She graduated from Bear Lake High School in Bear Lake, Michigan, and Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Lunch Bunch Toastmasters for five years, and served as Vice-President of Education for two years, and President for one year. She was a member of the West Michigan Fellowship of Christian Writers for one year, and is currently a member of Word Weavers of West Michigan. There is a clear connection between the health of individuals and the legal regime under which they live, particularly Aboriginal peoples. From the early ban on traditional practices to the constitutional division of powers (including who is responsible for off-reserve Indians under the Constitution), this is an historical examination of Canadian legal regimes and the impact they have had on the health of Aboriginal peoples. With an emphasis on the social determinants of health, Boyer outlines how commitments made regarding Aboriginal rights through treaties and Supreme Court of Canada rulings can be used to advance the health of Aboriginal peoples.
The Arctic region has long held a fascination for explorers and scientists of many countries. Despite the numerous voyages of exploration, the na ture of the central Arctic was unknown only 90 years ago; it was believed to be a shallow sea dotted with islands. During Nansen's historic voyage on the polarship Fram, which commenced in 1893, the great depth of the central basin was discovered. In the Soviet Union, investigation of the Arctic Ocean became national policy after 1917. Today research at several scientific institutions there is devoted primarily to the study of the North Polar Ocean and seas. The systematic exploration of the Arctic by the United States com menced in 1951. Research has been conducted year-round from drifting ice islands, which are tabular fragments of glacier ice that break away from ice shelves. Most frequently, ice islands originate off the northern coast of Ellesmere Island. These research platforms are occupied as weather sta tions, as well as for oceanographic and geophysical studies. Several inter national projects, conducted by Canadian, European, and U. S. groups, have been underway during the last three decades. Although much new data have accumulated since the publication of the Marine Geology and Oceanography of the Arctic Seas volume in 1974 (Yvonne Herman, ed. ), in various fields of polar research-including present-day ice cover, hydrogra phy, fauna, flora, and geology-many questions remain to be answered.
With the Civil Rights movement of the sixties fresh in their perspective, movie producers of the early 1970s began to make films aimed toward the underserved African American audience. Over the next five years or so, a number of cheaply made, so-called blaxploitation movies featured African American actresses in roles which broke traditional molds. Typically long on flash and violence but lacking in character depth and development, this genre nonetheless did a great deal toward redefining the perception of African American actresses, breaking traditional African American female stereotypes and laying the groundwork for later feminine action heroines. This critical study examines the ways in which the blaxploitation heroines of the early 1970s reshaped the presentation of African American actresses on screen and, to a certain degree, the perception of African American females in general. It discusses the social, political and cultural context in which blaxploitation films emerged. The work focuses on four African American actresses--Pam Grier, Tamara Dobson, Teresa Graves and Jeanne Belle--providing critical and audience response to their films as well as insight into the perspectives of the actresses themselves. The eventual demise of the blaxploitation genre due to formulaic plots and lack of character development is also discussed. Finally, the work addresses the mainstreaming of the action heroine in general and a recent resurgence of interest in black action movies. Relevant film stills and a selected filmography including cast list and plot synopsis are also included. Instructors considering this book for use in a course may request an examination copy here.
Written with primal intensity, touched with redeeming compassion, Rudy Wiebe--has explored our history, our roots and the secrets of our hearts with moral seriousness and great feeling." Governor General's Award for Fiction Citation, 1994 A powerful, major work of non-fiction, beautifully written, from the twice winner of the Governor General's Award for Fiction, and the great-great-granddaughter of Big Bear. This is a story about justice, and terrible injustices, a story about a murder, and a courtroom drama as compelling as any thriller as it unravels the events that put Yvonne Johnson behind bars for life, first in Kingston's Federal Prison for Women until the riot that closed it, and presently in the Okimaw Ochi Healing Lodge in the Cypress Hills. But above all it is the unforgettable true story of the life of a Native woman who has decided to speak out and break the silence, written with the redeeming compassion that marks all Rudy Wiebe's writing, and informed throughout by Yvonne Johnson's own intelligence and poetic eloquence. Characters and events spring to life with the vividness of fiction. The story is told sometimes in the first person by Rudy Wiebe, sometimes by Yvonne herself. He tracks down the details of Yvonne's early life in Butte, Montana, as a child with a double-cleft palate, unable to speak until the kindness of one man provided the necessary operations; the murder of her beloved brother while in police custody; her life of sexual abuse at the hands of another brother, grandfather and others; her escape to Canada - to Winnipeg and Wetaskiwin; the traumas of her life that led to alcoholism, and her slow descent into hell despite the love she found with her husband and three children. He reveals how she participated, with three others, in the murder of the man she believed to be a child abuser; he unravels the police story, taking us step by step, with jail-taped transcripts, through the police attempts to set one member of the group against the others in their search for a conviction - and the courtroom drama that followed. And Yvonne openly examines her life and, through her grandmother, comes to understand the legacy she has inherited from her ancestor Big Bear; having been led through pain to wisdom, she brings us with her to the point where she finds spiritual strength in passing on the lessons and understandings of her life. How the great-great-granddaughter of Big Bear reached out to the author of The Temptations of Big Bear to help her tell her story is itself an extraordinary tale. The co-authorship between one of Canada's foremost writers and the only Native woman in Canada serving life imprisonment for murder has produced a deeply moving, raw and honest book that speaks to all of us, and gives us new insight into the society we live in, while offering a deeply moving affirmation of spiritual healing.

Yvonne Kapp’s monumental biography of the daughter of Karl Marx who became a radical activist Eleanor Marx is one of the most tragically overlooked radical figures in history, usually overshadowed by her father, Karl. But not only did she edit, translate, transcribe and collaborate with her father, she also led an extraordinary life as a labour organiser, trade unionist, translator, actor, writer and feminist. Much of this we only know because of this highly acclaimed, outstanding exception to the omission of Eleanor Marx from history. Yvonne Kapp’s biography was first published at the height of feminist organising in the 1970s. Kapp brilliantly succeeds in capturing Eleanor’s spirit, from a lively child opining on the world’s affairs, to the new woman, aspiring to the stage, earning her living as a free intellectual, and helping to lead England’s unskilled workers at the height of the new unionism. She was always more than, yet at the same time inescapably, Karl Marx’s daughter. It is also, inevitably, an unrivalled biography of the Marx household in Victorian London, of the Marx circle, and of Friedrich Engels, the family’s extraordinary mentor. This single-volume edition of Kapp’s foundational biography includes an introduction by Sally Alexander.

What do Euphoria, Normal People, Atlanta, Ramy, Vida, I May Destroy You, Stranger Things, and Lovecraft Country have in common? In the 2016-2020 time period they were created, these TV shows exemplified one (or more) of four noteworthy trends: authenticity, diversity, sexual candor, and retrospection. This is the first book to examine live action, fictional television shows produced within a five-year period through the lens of the trends that they epitomize. For each show, the following is discussed: the significance of the platform and the format; the intentions of the creators and showrunners; pertinent background information; similar shows and precedents; the storytelling approach; the cinematic form; and finally, how the show is emblematic of that particular trend. Since trends have the possibility of becoming part of the mainstream, they are important to identify as they emerge, especially for viewers who have a keen interest in narrative television shows.
English summary: This book aims at a comprehensive understanding of diverging urban rejuvenation practices and gentrification processes in New York City, Berlin and Vienna. Regulative and supportive mechanisms at policy and planning level have been identified through a comparative analysis of urban rejuvenation policies and actors' embeddedness. Those mechanisms enable the development of contextualised parameters that support projection attempts of future gentrification processes at the neighbourhood level. As a result, a reflective understanding of gentrification and policy recommendations are drawn at a general level. The recommendations refer to the political understanding of gentrification and its role in urban development. This analysis argues that cities should include gentrification as a driving force in urban policies. However, processes of gentrification require mediation and monitoring by public authorities who should be aware of the risk of social fragmentation. As a consequence, cities should move towards a social entrepreneurial city that moves beyond the simple distribution of financial resources and responsibilities and ensures social responsibility within the force field of ongoing neoliberal forces.

Systemic Risk: History, Measurement and Regulation presents an overview of this emerging form of risk from a global perspective. They then discuss transmissions channels, provide a review of systemic risk measures, and describe new regulations that have been introduced, as well as the theory and practice of financial stability committees that have been set up internationally. Overall, the book provides a practical guide to understand, identify, assess and control systemic risk. While the financial research on systemic risk has strongly increased since the events of 2008, this book is a first in providing a detailed yet concise overview of the topic, covering the history of systemic risk, its measurement, and its regulation. Charlene left a legacy for the family in her writings affirming the fact, "We Are Standing on the Wings of Eagles." The purpose of the book is to depict black life in contrast to suburban, inner city, especially black church life. Show the futility of diverse lifestyles. An integration of the personal and political--the past on the present. The book was written by the eldest sibling prior to her unexpected death. Three days prior to her death, on March 10, 2003, Charlene wrote the following in her personal journal: My thoughts. My plans. My prayers. It is my prayer that everything I am, everything I hope to be, lines up with the perfect will of God. ...Charlene Few people can deliver words of blessing and encouragement at the perfect time when that "hug" is needed. Charlene was one. She was able to discern just the right time and need. Of course, she was so many years ahead of her time, it was if she had been here before writing all she saw in her notebook for future reference. Acquaintances are many in life, but true friends are few. Charlene was my true friend. I cherish her love and memory. I can still picture her singing with her mother, Lena, and family. They created such a perfect harmony that it could only have been orchestrated with God conducting. Charlene had a special way to let you know what she thought even if she did not agree with you. She was always ready to take time to do for others. She was God's voice and God's feet (serving) doing what she was able and supposed to do and leaving the rest to capable God. I was truly blessed to share a part of her time on earth. You are missed. God bless, my friend Charlene. --Elizabeth Marsh-Addis Retired teacher God has a way of placing people into our lives when we need them the most. Charlene was one of these persons for me. I had the awesome privilege of meeting Charlene while pastoring my second church, the Bethel AME Church in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Bethel was Charlene's home church. It was the church where her mother, Ms. Lena, was the minister of music and served for over fifty years. It was very apparent to me, as their new pastor, that this family was exceptional in so many ways, and family, both their own and God's family, was at the center of their joy and sincere service to the Lord. It was so obvious that Ms. Lena was a mother who was deeply steeped in the Lord and quietly, yet boldly, prayer was at the heart of her daily disciplines. After Charlene began attending church again, she got saved and recommitted her heart once again to the Lord. Additionally, I was honored to pastor her younger brother, Darryl, who was also called to the ministry and is now serving as the assistant pastor in New Jersey and one of Ms. Lena's daughter's, Yvonne, is serving as a senior pastor of a church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, all of Ms. Lena's children are currently serving the Lord in ministry. Charlene's mother left a God-fearing legacy for all her children to follow. They, indeed, are "standing on the wings of eagles." As I watched Charlene grow in the Lord, it was not at all surprising to me that she had tapped into the Spirit of the Lord and was alert and inquisitive, holding tightly to God's Word. Charlene foresaw the importance of documenting the revelations sweetly whispered in her own ear, leaving a legacy for generations to come. Thank you, Charlene. "Write the Vision And make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry"(Habakkuk 2:2-3)! --Rev. Dr. Brenda J. Gregg Senior Pastor, Destiny of Faith Inc. The writings of six choreographers are assembled in this book and the leap they have taken to go from the medium of choreography into written text constitutes a form of translation. Some of the texts investigate the possibilities of written language as invention, others use it as a means to illustrate specific tenets or describe choreographic projects. All yield insight into the process of coaxing language from the body.

If so, you understand the heartbreak, pain, and guilt that creeps into your life, causing you to question your own reality. In the case of author Yvonne Jones, her uncertainty cost her everything. As she sank further into the physical and mental struggle with her abusive partner, Yvonne felt like a stranger in her own body. Her thoughts were no longer her own. She, as much as she tried, couldn't pull herself from the shackles of her husband's terror. She'd escape, only to be met with an overly-apologetic partner who quickly intensified his anger as soon as she was back in his grips. Slowly her husband's anger turned toward her innocent son. Unfortunately it went too far, and one fateful day her husband took her own son's life. In shock, the following events that culminated in her stay in prison were a blur. It wasn't until she had been locked behind bars did she realize the reality of the situation. In the process, her youngest son was taken in by the state. During her time in prison, Yvonne tackled the trauma that she'd been through. She began a prayer group and frequent bible studies to get her through. Join her as she struggles to regain her independence and self-worth while relying on the only thing in life that's forever—her savior.
What Happened to the Teachers Pet? was written as an inspirational tool to motivate teachers to teach from a perspective of passion for overall student success. Too often, society is allowed to dictate the state of our students and cast blame for substandard performance and failure onto the students, their choices, or their abilities. This book addresses the concept of that attitude which actually does reflect leadership. It points out the truth that lies behind our students so-called problems and discredits some typically misguided reasons why students cannot or will not learn. All in all, this book is dedicated to encourage teachers to teach like they mean it and believe in themselves.
Bigger’s pain is seething and unrelenting throughout Richard Wright’s bestseller novel, Native Son (1940), until he states, “Tell Jan hello” to his Lawyer Max. The pain of Richard Wright is reflected this author’s creation—a reflection of Wright’s own pain growing up in Mississippi. Born is 1908 in Roxie, Mississippi near Natchez, the writer is able to create the Bigger character who becomes the most compelling one in twentieth century American literature. Wright came to Memphis, Tennessee after graduating from Smith Robertson school in Jackson, Mississippi and in Black Boy (1945) surreptitiously gets books written by H. L. Mencken, a white male critic of the south. Wright observes Mencken using words as weapons and thinks he, too, can use words as weapons. In doing so, his novels Native Soon and Black Boy catapults his career with Native Son becoming the major black protest novel of the twentieth century. Dr. Yvonne Robinson Jones’ Genderisms: Decapitated and Smashed Heads: An Analysis of Richard Wright’s major fictions captures yet capsizes the plight of the female characters like Mary Dalton and Bessie Smears who represent the victimization and challenging plights of females not only in American society but throughout our global communities.
