The idea behind the book is to inspire people and especially my family to read and to write. Somehow I started reading comic books between the ages of three and four. And not really knowing how that happened. U continued to read various books even with several nieces and nephews hanging all over me (those that lived with us). I remember reading in elementary school "There is no frigate like a book to take you miles and miles away" somewhere on the reading tests, my mother and father were told in elementary that I read at a twelfth grade level. Read in a neighborhood that stressed playing outdoors brought some pointed finger at a boy who was sitting on the porch reading in the summer while his peers passed by to go play some game. Yet it helped him pick up many philosophies along the way. Certainly I struggled to write sentences that did not always begin with I. I did so because I believed that one's thoughts could be put on paper. So what you read here are some of my thoughts and philosophies that have been with me over many years.

Since the early 1980s, filmmakers of Maghrebi origin have made a key contribution to the representation of issues such as immigration, integration and national identity in French cinema. However, they have done so mostly from a position on the margins of the industry. In contrast, since the early 2000s, Maghrebi-French and North African emigre filmmakers have occupied an increasingly prominent position in on both sides of the camera, announcing their presence on French screens in a wider range of genres and styles than ever before. This greater prominence and move to the mainstream has not automatically meant that these films have lost any of the social or political relevance of Beur cinema of the 1980s or the banlieue film of the 1990s. Indeed in the 2000s these films have increasingly questioned the boundaries between national, transnational and diasporic cinema, whilst simultaneously demanding, either implicitly or explicitly, a reconsideration of the very difference that has traditionally been seen as a barrier to the successful integration of North African immigrants and their descendants into French society. Through a detailed study of this transformative decade for Maghrebi-French and North African emigre filmmaking in France, this book argues for the emergence of a Post-Beur cinema in the 2000s that is simultaneously global and local in its outlook. An absorbing introduction to this key development in contemporary French cinema, Post-Beur Cinema is essential reading for students and scholars in Film Studies, French Studies and Diaspora Studies.

He also tried his voice in sound recordings, witnessed his work as a writer reach millions of readers of daily newspapers, became one of the most sought-after speakers on the dinner circuit, and embarked on a three-year tour of the nation’s lecture halls. In addition to Rogers’s personal correspondence with family members and friends, editors Steven K. Gragert and M. Jane Johansson present more than one hundred letters and telegrams to and from people Rogers touched both inside and outside public life, including prominent figures in politics, show business, literature, industry, government, publishing, and the arts. Much of this material, gleaned from private collections, interviews, manuscripts, and sound recordings, has never before been published.
