Arabia held a mysterious power that pulled individuals to the hot sands of the Middle East. Where else could one find the beautiful Arabian horses that could take one flying across the sands? Where else did people live in their beautifully decorated tent dwellings and plan Jihad for their enemies? James was a young American boy who had been trained by his familys Arabian servant and friend to one day go to Arabia to live. That desire grew inside James as James grew to become a man. Most who were drawn to Arabia had no idea of the cost Arabia could exact from you. It could even demand your life. There was much treachery in Arabia because of the lust for power. This was even true in ones own family, as family members were killed to prevent them from rising to power. What was it that drew the heart of James La Faye? Was it a lust for personal power, or was it a desire to see the heart of Arabia changed toward the people of America? Would there always be the hatred and mistrust between the two worlds?
Louisiana has always fascinated me. I had an uncle who lived there, and he was a polished storyteller. When he came to visit, I liked to sit close to him and listen to his stories. I was convinced that no one told stories better than Uncle Watson. He could take you to different parts of the world as part of weaving his stories. This is what you will see as you are taken to the hot sands of Saudi Arabia, where Uncle Hadji lived on an oasis.
Growing up on his familys plantation in Lake Charles, Louisiana, James, the grandson of Bow and Catherine Le Faye, found himself being schooled by the Arabian servant of the Le Faye family. Abu told stories of his beloved Arabia and shared Arabian history and culture with James. The boy vowed to one day go to Arabia and live there. Where else would one find beautiful Arabian horses that took one flying across the sands of Arabia? He dreamed of beautiful women with long, flowing black hair beckoning to him. Where else might he find Uncle Hadjis oasis, where he and his family lived in tents? James dreamed of Arabia, never realizing the cost of being a part of that country. What made Arabia seem so wonderful to James, and would his quest one day be fulfilled?
A number of years ago, I worked with a friend on a poetry board. He was a wonderful mentor, and during that time, I wrote the Pedro Story. With his encouragement, I developed a love for children's stories and poetry. I found the combination helped to convey a story children loved to hear over and over. This book talks about Pedro. In spite of a good life, he feels empty since he realizes he needs someone with which to share his life. Things changed when he met Rosita. She is the perfect partner, but Rosita seems to dislike the idea of having a partner since she is used to living alone. Will Pedro win Rosita's heart?
