In this sequel to "Blood Red River", the battle of Adobe Walls has left former buffalo hunter Billy Dixon unemployed. Salvation comes in Lt. Frank Baldwin, an ambitious solder set free from his desk job to fight natives in Texas. Baldwin is recruiting a contingent of Indian and white scouts to help the U.S. 5th Infantry pursue hostiles at Llano Estacado. Soon, Dixon and Baldwin are locked in a fierce battle for blood and vengeance.
The buffalo brought them west: frontiersmen like Billy Dixon, who made his living with a long-barreled rifle, and businessmen like George Eddy, who balanced the books for a frontier trading company.
