Consciousness about self-identity and history is an offshoot of colonial rule. Governments in independent India that largely inherited the economic and political structure of the colonial rule fueled this consciousness by adopting the policy of caste-based reservation in matters of public utility and services. Manifestoes issued by political parties during elections guarantee relocation of castes. Thus, communities segmented as castes are in constant flux and often claim higher social status while providing data for lower economic status. The Parathavar community that was deeply exposed to colonial rule by the Portuguese, Dutch and English by virtue of being inhabitants of the Pearl Fishery Coast was no exception to this trend. This book, though presented as a collection of articles, looks into the social, economic and religious past of the Parathavar community prior to their embracing Christianity and seeks to compare that with the developments after conversion. These articles are attempts to collect historical information from the memory of noted writer and Sahitya Academy winner R. N. Joe d’Cruz and compare it with the information gleaned from archives, field visits and presentations situated within the historical context. Hence, this scholarly work is purely apolitical and academic. But, it provides critical input for understanding the consciousness of the Parathavar people and others in the present.

International debt rescheduling, both in earlier epochs and our present one, has been marked by a flurry of bargaining. In this process, significant variation has emerged over time and across cases in the extent to which debtors have undertaken economic adjustment, banks or bondholders have written down debts, and creditor governments and international organizations have intervened in negotiations. Debt Games develops and applies a situational theory of bargaining to analyze the adjustment undertaken by debtors and the concessions provided by lenders in international debt rescheduling. This approach has two components: a focus on each actor's individual situation, defined by its political and economic bargaining resources, and a complementary focus on changes in their position. The model proves successful in accounting for bargaining outcomes in eighty-four percent of the sixty-one cases, which include all instances of Peruvian and Mexican debt rescheduling over the last one hundred and seventy years as well as Argentine and Brazilian rescheduling between 1982 and 1994.

Numerous semiconducting photoelectrodes were comprehensively considered for electrochemical generation of current by using radiation in terms of continuous and effective trap as well as exchange of solar power. This dissertation illustrate the synthesis and characterization of polycrystalline cadmium selenide/trivalent ion like aluminum doped cadmium selenide/ monovalent ion like copper doped cadmium selenide thin films. Solar cells maintain great hopes to be used an environmental friendly and economically feasible renewable power sources. For this purpose semiconductor materials are being investigated. In the present investigation, deposition of cadmium selenide/aluminum and copper doped cadmium selenide samples by dip method applying amorphous as well as metallic templates. Aluminum trichloride, cadmium sulfate, ammonia,trichloroacetic acid, aluminum trichloride, sodium selenosulphate and copper chloride were utilized to deposit the samples. Diverse depositary considerations were outlined to acquired excellent samples. The materials have been characterized via XRD technique, SEM method, optical absorption measurement and electrical characteristics. The sample undergoes photoelectrochemical and thermoelectrical determination. Cadmium selenide films show dark red in color. For aluminum and copper doped samples different shades and dark brown color was obtained correspondingly. The extreme thickness of cadmium selenide became observed 0.54μm, aluminum doped sample indicates 0.74 μm as well as 0.70μm for copper doped samples. Each sample indicates hexagonal structure. Towering, rocky mountains, and a very dense evergreen forest surround the Railway line and a Railway cabin. A few kilometers away from this cabin, deep within the Sahyadri mountains, lies a small eco-friendly house. Chinmay Kulkarni has inherited this house. The Shaishav-7 is an adventure group of seven teenage boys studying in the Shaishav School in Vadodara. They are also Sleuths. Precancerous lesions and conditions, primary prevention, surgical management and other topics will be shown. Oral cancer is one of the ten leading cancers in the world. Globally the age adjusted incidence rates for oral cancer in men varies from 2.2/100000 in Japan to 22.5/100000 in Brazil; and in women from 0.9/100000 in Japan to 17.2/100000 in Bangalore. In south East Asia, it is the leading cancer in males and the third leading cancer in females. For description the following subsites are included in oral cancers: lip.tongue,gum, floor of mouth, buccal mucosa palate and other parts of the mouth (ICD-0140,141,143,144,145) There is considerable international, national, interethnic variation in the distribution of cancer in intraoral sites. Cancer of the buccal mucosa, lower alveolus and the retro molar trigone are grouped together as cancers of gingivo buccal complex and can be aptly called as the Indian oral cancer as they constitute 60% of all oral cancer in India. Tongue and floor of mouth cancers form the bulk of oral cancers in the west.

On the urge of urbanisation, the use of synthetic dyes is increasing largely and its untreated effluent release causes serious environmental pollution affecting water bodies by disturbing the aquatic ecosystem, soil, plants, animals, humans. The recalcitrant nature of these dyes limits its treatment using conventional methods wherein biological methods using microorganisms are reported to completely mineralize the dyes lowering the release of degradation products. The present work focuses on the biodegradation of synthetic dyes by isolating bacteria from a dyeing unit. Soil samples from the dye contaminated soils was collected, its degradation potentiality was observed using three major dye of studies congo red, brilliant green and methylene blue within 24 hr incubation. Maximum decoloarized dye (congo red and brilliant green) were chosen, serially diluted to 10-5 and plated to obtain two distinct colonies from decolorized congo red (CR1, CR2) and three distinct colonies from decolorized brilliant green (BG1, BG2, BG3). These isolates were biochemically characterized. Molecular characterization was performed by isolating DNA from five isolates and amplified it using PCR, with the 16s rRNA gene primer. The PCR amplification product having approximately 1500bp were sequenced, edited and searched using BLAST against the known sequences within NCBI databases. The isolates were identified to be CR1 as Pseudomonas (88% identity), CR2 as Aeromonas (89% identical) and BG1/BG2 were confirmed to belong to same genus as Bacillus (99% identical). The phylogenetic tree showed a clear divergence between isolated species. Furthermore, the dye tolerance of isolates were observed by optimization analysis to be as CR1 and CR2 tolerated up to 4% of congo red dye and among BG1, BG2 and BG3; BG1 tolerated up to 0.50% of brilliant green dye. Thus, CR1 and CR2 were observed to be potent azo dye decolourizers. Recombinant DNA Technology can be applied in this field that can make the above future application more reliable.
