Il volume 32.2 è suddiviso in due parti. La prima contiene un inserto speciale, intitolato “From Pottery to Context. Archaeology and Virtual Modelling” e curato da Vincenzo Baldoni. L’inserto, che raccoglie complessivamente 11 contributi, è suddiviso a sua volta in due sezioni, di cui la prima (The ‘Alma Idea’ Numana Project) illustra i principali risultati del progetto di ricerca “Dal reperto al paesaggio: analisi archeologica e modellazione virtuale delle necropoli picene di Numana (AN)”, promosso dall’Università di Bologna, mentre la seconda (From Pottery to Context: Methodologies, Practices, Case Studies) approfondisce alcune tematiche di ricerca di particolare attualità nel settore dell’archeologia digitale. Nella seconda parte del volume, intitolata “Archaeological Computing: Selected Papers from the 2020 IMEKO TC-4 MetroArchaeo International Conference” e curata da Alessandra Caravale, sono pubblicati i migliori contributi scientifici sull’informatica archeologica selezionati da un Comitato scientifico internazionale e premiati nel corso dell’edizione del Convegno internazionale Metrology for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage promosso nel 2020 dall’Università di Trento https://www.metroarcheo.com/ma2020/awards
This book arose out of original research on the extension of well-established applications of complex numbers related to Euclidean geometry and to the space-time symmetry of two-dimensional Special Relativity. The system of hyperbolic numbers is extensively studied, and a plain exposition of space-time geometry and trigonometry is given. Commutative hypercomplex systems with four unities are studied and attention is drawn to their interesting properties.
Industrial mathematics is evolving into an important branch of mathematics. Vincenzo Galilei, the father of the astronomer Galileo, was a guiding light of the Florentine Camerata. His Dialogue on Ancient and Modern Music, published in 1581 or 1582 and now translated into English for the first time, was among the most influential music treatises of his era. Galilei is best known for his rejection of modern polyphonic music in favor of Greek monophonic song. The treatise sheds new light on his importance, both as a musician who advocated a new philosophy of music history and theory based on an objective search for the truth, and as an experimental scientist who was one of the founders of modern acoustics.
This book highlights recent advances in thin-film photonics, particularly as building blocks of metamaterials and metasurfaces. Recent advances in nanophotonics has demonstrated remarkable control over the electromagnetic field by tailoring the optical properties of materials at the subwavelength scale which results in the emergence of metamaterials and metasurfaces. However, most of the proposed platforms require intense lithography which makes them of minor practical relevance. Stacked ultrathin-films of dielectrics, semi-conductors, and metals are introduced as an alternative platform that perform unique or similar functionalities. This book discusses the new era of thin film photonics and its potential applications in perfect and selective light absorption, structural coloring, biosensing, enhanced spontaneous emission, reconfigurable photonic devices and super lensing.

This primer presents the legal framework of the extremely complex regulation of legacy and digital media in Europe by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
