Victor Sodsook was raised in New Buri, a Thailand suburb. At an early age he knew he wanted to be a chef, so he went to college to study hotel & restaurant management. And at that time he had the opportunity to meet some American officials who suggested that he should bring his culinary skills to America. In 1976 he opened his restaurant, the Siamese Princess, in Los Angeles. The Siamese Princess is the only Thai restaurant to even receive the three star award for cuisine for five consecutive years, 1985 thru 1989, from the California Restaurant Writers Association & for the last two years the four star award for wine cellar. The restaurant also has received the "Award of Excellence" from the WINE SPECTATOR for four consecutive years, 1986 thru 1989. Victor got to thinking that he should write his own cookbook & share his talents with everybody. Apart from being a book of recipes, I LOVE THAI FOOD is also a guide to some of Sodsook's favourites & what he considers, to be the top restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. The book includes many sample recipes from these restaurants & also a complete guide to Thai herbs, spices & condiments that are used in this type of cuisine. The book also contains a complete directory of where you can buy all the necessary ingredients for Thai cuisine throughout the United States. The book is beautifully illustrated with four colour art work.
