Kyle's adventures on the mountain bring him closer to his family and help him discover not only the gold, but more about himself.

Shyrka piensa en su familia, deseando que lo acepten y preguntandose si lo extranan. Lo que sucede a lo largo del camino y en Tall Town ayuda a Darby y Shyrka a comprender el significado de ayudar a los demas y la importancia de la familia.

Darby y el Dollberry se atreven lleva a Darby, un joven m'ite del pueblo de Dollberry Hollow, en una aventura en el Bosque de B'lack y en lo profundo de la Cueva de los Embrujados. En la vispera de cada luna roja, los ancianos de la aldea eligen un desafio para los ninos de la aldea que han cumplido diez temporadas desde el surgimiento de la ultima luna roja. Cuando Darby dibuja la corta columna vertebral del erizo, se atreve a arrancar un cabello de la cabeza del ogro que vive en la cueva y llevarlo de regreso a la aldea para ganar sus plumas de aprendiz. Darby esta asustado, pero quiere demostrar a los otros chicos m'ite que no tiene miedo de enfrentar lo que se esconde dentro de la cueva. Sin embargo, Darby se ve obligado a entrar en la cueva por razones mas nobles que arrancar un pelo de la cabeza del ogro. Lo que Darby encuentra no es solo coraje, sino algo mas increible.

Wanting to make his mother the best wrap of pretties he has ever given her, Darby picks a few of the glowing pretties and puts them into the wrap with the pink and purple pretties from the meadow. Darby returns to the village a changed m'ite. What happens next leads Darby to find confidence in himself and be proud of the small differences in who he is.

Darby and the Dollberry Dare takes Darby, a young m’ite boy from the village of Dollberry Hollow, on an adventure into the B’lack Forest and deep into the Cave of the Haunted. On the eve of each red moon, the village elders choose a dare for the boys of the village who have turned ten seasons old since the rise of the last red moon. When Darby draws the short hedgehog spine, he is dared to pluck a hair from the head of the ogre who lives in the cave and take it back to the village to earn his apprentice feathers. Darby is scared, but he wants to prove to the other m’ite boys that he isn’t afraid to face what hides inside the cave. However, Darby is driven to enter the cave for nobler reasons than plucking a hair from the ogre’s head. What Darby finds is not only courage but something more incredible.

Shyrka thinks about his family, wishing they would accept him and wondering if they miss him. What happens along the trail and in Tall Town helps Darby and Shyrka understand the meaning of helping others and the importance of family.
