In Akasha, Sundaram shares her personal experiences regarding spiritual conditioning and the final ceiling layer it imposes upon the spiritual climb. She describes how the awakening of the mind is the beginning of enhanced life, but the body must be involved as well. A process of self-discipline and self-reflection helps the mind and body purify and permanently strengthen. Presenting the two-year Practice Pathway instruction to reaching and remaining with the higher self, Akasha conveys a truth of not only the spiritual mind but the spiritual depth of the body. It shows how the awakening of both creates the final height of an individual which is the Akasha self.
Without a clear understanding or expectation of where her explorations would lead, Usha Sita Sundaram began to look within for peace, understanding, and compassion. That quest for a better life introduced her to the many benefits of meditation. Now, two decades later, she knows profound gratitude for the many gifts she has received. Mind: The Journey into the Expanse presents the diary-based expression of her travel through what she calls the "egoic self" into a higher thought-yielding place of clear and purposeful action. In stark contrast to our culture's obsession with instant gratification, she has come to appreciate the unfolding of wisdom at its own pace. Awakening, ironically enough, is not the result of an overnight epiphany, but rather a reward that is brought to fruition slowly and purposefully. Awakening is what happens despite the overwhelming frustration. It is the knowing that the truth is within reach-and well worth the effort.

Dancing Women: Choreographing Corporeal Histories of Hindi Cinema, an ambitious study of two of South Asia's most popular cultural forms cinema and dance historicizes and theorizes the material and cultural production of film dance, a staple attraction of popular Hindi cinema. It explores how the dynamic figurations of the body wrought by cinematic dance forms from the 1930s to the 1990s produce unique constructions of gender, sexuality, stardom, and spectacle. By charting discursive shifts through figurations of dancer-actresses, their publicly performed movements, private training, and the cinematic and extra-diegetic narratives woven around their dancing bodies, the book considers the "women's question" via new mobilities corpo-realized by dancing women. Some of the central figures animating this corporeal history are Azurie, Sadhona Bose, Vyjayanthimala, Helen, Waheeda Rehman, Madhuri Dixit, and Saroj Khan, whose performance histories fold and intersect with those of other dancing women, including devadasis and tawaifs, Eurasian actresses, oriental dancers, vamps, choreographers, and backup dancers. Through a material history of the labor of producing on-screen dance, theoretical frameworks that emphasize collaboration, such as the "choreomusicking body" and "dance musicalization," aesthetic approaches to embodiment drawing on treatises like the Natya Sastra and the Abhinaya Darpana, and formal analyses of cine-choreographic "techno-spectacles," Dancing Women offers a variegated, textured history of cinema, dance, and music. Tracing the gestural genealogies of film dance produces a very different narrative of Bombay cinema, and indeed of South Asian cultural modernities, by way of a corporeal history co-choreographed by a network of remarkable dancing women.

AUMKARA is the continuation of the spiritual non-fiction series that began with the books MIND, AKASHA, and SOURCE. The writings are a compilation of essay and verse that delineate the self realization process within the Akasha Spiritual Faith. The Self-directed practice yields a liberation of mind that is steeped in purposeful honor without undue austerity and conformity.
Akasha Spiritual Faith is an experience-based book of thought regarding spiritual conditioning and the final ceiling layer it imposes upon the spiritual climb. The awakening of the mind is the beginning of the enhanced life yet the body must present itself, as well. Body knowledge is found through the cleared mind and offers strength and stamina for the duration of the existence. The egoic tendencies of mind and body must both be contended with through arduous self-disciplined efforts. In the doing so, the greater life is known through the heightened and purified system. Akasha Spiritual Faith offers the two year pathway instruction to reaching and remaining within the Higher Self. The finding of the life's finality is spiritual freedom.
SOURCE is the continuation of cumulative thought that began with the books MIND and Akasha Spiritual Faith. This is the next collection in the spiritual series and approaches the mind-body awakening through purposeful action without undue repression and sacrificial constraints. It leads to a highly productive and meaningful existence and the freedom inherent to the process lasts the lifetime. The Source is all that exists externally as well as within and this we are meant to seek and address through the life that becomes unfathomably rich in its potential. SOURCE addresses the egoic mind through the background context of Source and Divine Law, Source elements, and the resonation-based existence. It leads to the diminishment of the egoic self and allows the mind-body life to awaken.
