This book is devoted to the theory of infinite-order linear and nonlinear differential operators with several real arguments and their applications to problems of partial differential equations and numerical analysis.Part I develops the theory of pseudodifferential operators with real analytic symbols, the local representatives of which are linear differential operators of infinite order acting in the spaces of basic and generalized functions based on the duality of the spaces of real analytic functions and functionals. Applications to a variety of problems of PDEs and numerical analysis are given. Part II is devoted to the theory of Sobolev-Orlicz spaces of infinite order and the solvability of nonlinear partial differential equations with arbitrary nonlinearities.
Despite decades of research and progress in the theory of generalized solutions to first-order nonlinear partial differential equations, a gap between the local and the global theories remains: The Cauchy characteristic method yields the local theory of classical solutions. Historically, the global theory has principally depended on the vanishing viscosity method. The authors of this volume help bridge the gap between the local and global theories by using the characteristic method as a basis for setting a theoretical framework for the study of global generalized solutions. That is, they extend the smooth solutions obtained by the characteristic method. The authors offer material previously unpublished in book form, including treatments of the life span of classical solutions, the construction of singularities of generalized solutions, new existence and uniqueness theorems on minimax solutions, differential inequalities of Haar type and their application to the uniqueness of global, semi-classical solutions, and Hopf-type explicit formulas for global solutions. These subjects yield interesting relations between purely mathematical theory and the applications of first-order nonlinear PDEs. The Characteristic Method and Its Generalizations for First-Order Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations represents a comprehensive exposition of the authors' works over the last decade. The book is self-contained and assumes only basic measure theory, topology, and ordinary differential equations as prerequisites. With its innovative approach, new results, and many applications, it will prove valuable to mathematicians, physicists, and engineers and especially interesting to researchers in nonlinear PDEs, differential inequalities, multivalued analysis, differential games, and related topics in applied analysis.
This book compares the nature and practice of internationalisation of the curriculum at the policy, institutional, and classroom levels in Vietnam and Australia: the former an Asian, developing, and sending country of international students, and the latter an Anglophone, developed country, and a major education export provider. By examining curriculum internationalisation practices in these two vastly different socio-cultural contexts, the book contributes to the understanding of the magnitude and the range of differences regarding national and institutional responses to the common call for curriculum internationalisation. It addresses the impacts of the latest technological, political, economic, and sociocultural developments and COVID-19 on higher education internationalisation, as well as the digitalisation of international education. Crucially, it responds to a critical gap in the literature by not only investigating curriculum internationalisation policies and their implementation, but how faculty staff and students experience and engage with internationalisation of the curriculum in their home context, and how they position themselves and are positioned by the structural conditions with regard to curriculum internationalisation. The authors utilise document analysis, in-depth interviews, and focus groups from a four-year research project. The research employs a unique conceptual framework combining practice architectures theory and Barnett and Coate’s conceptualisation of curriculum as knowing-acting-being. This book explores the issue of graduate employability in regional Vietnam.
