Growing up in a small town from birth to age 10 and then on a farm through high school was the ideal setting for adventure. Looking for something to do, to occupy my time, lead to using my vivid imagination. We had lots of free time, after the chores were finished. Along with my brother, cousin, and friends we took what was learned at a picture show, and turned it into a real life adventure. Looking back today, I realize just how dangerous those escapades could be. Hunting deadly snakes, riding a flooded stream on a log, or trying to outrun a fast moving train on a railroad trestle was just plain crazy. Most of the stories are true, with just a little exaggeration, here and there. The grammar and style of speaking are authentic to the best of my knowledge. Tommy J Sheppard is a retired elementary school teacher. His career spanned forty-two years with thirty-eight of those years in Escondido, California. He now lives in Milan, Tennessee. Much of his free time is devoted to painting, reading, fishing and yard work. He and his wife, Jackie, enjoy their grandkids, traveling, and are actively involved in their church.
