Praise for The Unique Grief of Suicide: Questions and Hope “A gem of a book. Tom Smith is one of those unique human beings who, through a labor of love and generosity, is able to turn a personal tragedy into an opportunity to reach out and help many others. His work combines scientific data and personal feelings admirably.” —Luis A. Giuffra, MD, PhD; professor of clinical psychiatry, Washington University School of Medicine “Very painful questions arise following the death by suicide of a loved one. Tom Smith’s moving book identifies and organizes these questions—a very helpful thing in itself. But more, the book provides answers and also acknowledges that some questions do not have easy answers, reflecting accurately and sympathetically the experiences of those bereaved by suicide.” —Thomas Joiner, PhD, author of Why People Die by Suicide and the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Florida State University With warmth and understanding, Tom Smith draws on his own grief following the suicide of his twenty-six-year-old daughter, Karla, and provides helpful resources and coping strategies to those grieving a suicide. Both practical and comforting, The Unique Grief of Suicide guides and educates those dealing with the different facets of suicide and offers a safe harbor within the storm of grief.

EasyTalk is designed to help many millions of yearly visitors (business and pleasure) to the United States, the many business owners throughout the World who want to take part in the giant U.S. economy, the slightly over 1 million new legal immigrants to the U.S. every year and the millions of resident professionals from the last dozen years or more. Many formerly foreign medical folks in the one of the World’s largest Medical Centers, for example, who asked me to compile a book so they can at least enjoy going to the grocery store, do other shopping or their jobs better. Underlying EasyTalk is the little understood Science of Phonology (hearing and listening) expressed in common, simplified language to achieve these goals. The book’s area of phonology focuses on short and long sounds of our alphabets vowels as they modify conversation syllables in talking or listening to others.
This tool was born out of desperation. The funeral handbooks I bought in school and those available in most bookstores, seem ancient and culturally distant from life in the 21st Century. This book was first an iTunes App for the iPhone. It was so well received that I decided to make it available in book form. The book form will include three funeral sermons previously published on iTunes as Vital Thoughts on Grief. This tool will allow you plan a funeral with a family or insure you that you are always ready to perform a funeral. If you have illustrations, or ideas to improve this tool please email me @ meetingspice@gmail.com Published by GrievingTeensPublishing.com

This title was first published in 2000: An investigation of Scottish art between 1928 and 1955 to bring into focus the multifaceted project that was Scottish modernism. At the core of this work lies the contention that Scottish modernism was underpinned by a desire to express a national consciousness. It was this ambition which became the defining feature of radical Scottish art, setting the parameters of its relationship with the idea of a coherent and international modern movement. With the foundation of the National Party of Scotland in 1928, Scottish intellectuals began to consider the nature of national identity and the characteristics of a national art. The "Scottish Renaissance Movement", under the voluble leadership of Hugh MacDiarmid, set out to articulate these interests, developing a vernacular poetry and literature. For Scottish artists, the way forward was harder to identify, as they fought to reconcile the demands for a Scottish national art with the stylistic revolution of international modernism. Tom Normand examines the competing claims of nationalism and modernism as they affected Scottish art. This in-depth analysis of a dynamic episode in Scottish visual culture looks at the work of, among others, William Johnstone, William McCance and John Duncan Fergusson.

Life is certain to have its loses. For some there are many loses. Life requires death as its conclusion. This is part of the human condition. Growth from death and other losses is only an option. Growth is a goal that can only be achieved with effort. Many people are "torn down" by loss and grief and it sets them back. I have had family and friends that have never recovered from loss. Growing is a choice. Choose growth or choose life. The decision is only yours. The wise choice is growth. grievingteens.com grievingteenspublishing.com
So you are a Youth Pastor or Youth Worker, and someone dies. It could be the grandparent, or parent of a youth in your ministry. Or it could be a youth in your youth who is killed in a terrible accident, or it could be a student in a local high school or middle school. How will you respond to help the families, the individuals in your youth group or the youth in the local high school? Could it be that God has put you in the situation for a divine purpose? I think that is why you are reading this now. I don’t believe in accidents. I’d venture to guess that there is a reason behind why you are reading this even now! This is not the typical book for a youth pastor. But this book is about real life problems that happen everyday and in some way affects many of the youth in your group and could be a way to come to know others deeply in a matter of hours.
For the sort of dreams that humans have while asleep, you will have to consult other books. This book is not about bad dreams or nightmares either. This book is about dreams in real life that are dashed by death, divorce, moves, loss of a job, or a loss of a relationship. Hence, these are grieving dreams or dream death. The circumstances of life, for us all bring loss into our lives. Some loss is self actuated, other loss is from the actions of others, while other losses just happen in what we call, âacts of Godâ . In every loss there is a âdream dimensionâ to the loss. The âwhat would have been, what should have been, or what could have been,â is the dream element of the loss.

The Orkney Islands are a place of mystery and magic, where the past and the present meet, ancient standing stones walk and burial mounds are the home of the trows. Orkney Folk Tales walks the reader across invisible islands that are home to fin folk and mermaids, and seals that are often far more than they appear to be. Here Orkney witches raise storms and predict the outcome of battles, ghosts seek revenge and the Devil sits in the rafters of St Magnus Cathedral, taking notes! Using ancient tales told by the firesides of the Picts and Vikings, storyteller Tom Muir takes the reader on a magical journey where he reveals how the islands were created from the teeth of a monster, how a giant built lochs and hills in his greed for fertile land, and how the waves are controlled by the hand of a goddess.
The Invention of the Airplane ushered in the modern age. Tom D. Crouch chronicles how conquest of the skies shifted the way people travel, wage war, and perceive the promise of life. From balloons and kites to passenger jets, from stealth fighters to interplanetary rockets, Crouch tells how the enthusiasm of amateurs spawned an industry that now determines the rise and fall of nations. Achievements have been breathtaking, and yet this is not a tale of unalloyed progress. Blind alleys ended in debt and failure; bitter disappointment and stark terror exacted a price for technical progress. In the end, there is no more fascinating cast of characters than those who wrote history in the sky and, in living a dream, forever changed the world. Book jacket.
This unauthorized biography of King Charles III follows his twenty-year struggle with his public image in the wake of Diana’s death. Numerous challenges face King Charles III as he succeeds his mother to the throne of the United Kingdom. While Elizabeth II had a long history of uniting her people, Charles has always been less popular and often divisive. Following Princess Diana’s death, his approval rating plummeted to four percent—the lowest for any royal in recent times. Charles’s public support improved following his marriage to Camilla, but how was he able to turn things around? And what sort of monarch will he be? In Rebel King, investigative journalist and historian Tom Bower chronicles two dramatic decades of King Charles’s life. He examines Charles’s battle for rehabilitation after Diana’s death and his refusal to obey the public’s expectations of a future king. This book gathers testimonies from more than 120 individuals, many of whom served the royals for long periods and with great distinction. The result reveals dramatic secrets and offers an unrivalled, intimate portrait of the man, the heir, and the making of a king. Previously published as Rebel Prince. Praise for Rebel King “A devastating book by Britain’s top investigative author.” —Daily Mail “Explosive . . . delves inside the bizarre, ultra luxury world of Prince Charles.” —The Sun “There is more than enough carping, cosseting and cattiness here to satisfy any appetite for royal intrigue.” —The Sunday Times
A heartwarming, intimate, and amusing memoir of a father’s experience raising his autistic son. When Tom Fields-Meyer’s son Ezra was three and showing early signs of autism, a therapist suggested that the father needed to grieve. “For what?” Tom asked. The answer: “For the child he didn't turn out to be.” That moment helped strengthen the author’s resolve to do just the opposite: to love the child Ezra was, a quirky boy with a fascinating and complex mind. Full of tender moments and unexpected humor, Following Ezra is the story of a father and son on a ten-year journey from Ezra’s diagnosis to the dawn of his adolescence. It celebrates his growth from a toddler to an extraordinary young man, connected in his own remarkable ways to the world around him. And through Ezra’s eyes, Tom—and, in turn, the reader—gains a new and beautiful understanding of the world.
Rupert Murdoch's extraordinary career has no parallel. His control of Fox news, which so successfully supports the Trump presidency, is a key force in American politics. In the UK, his control of The Sun and The Times leaves politicians scrambling to get him onside. But what do we know about the man himself? This book looks closely at the Murdochs, focusing on Rupert's father Keith, who built the family's media power and cultivated the anti-establishment instincts that his son Rupert is known for. Roberts traces the life of the Murdochs, how Rupert Murdoch's view of the world was formed, and assesses it's impact on the media that influences our politics today.

Making use of his true scholar's understanding, yet writing in an approachable and anecdotal style, Tom Wright manages to unravel the great complexity of this extraordinary gospel. He describes it as 'one of the great books in the literature of the world; and part of its greatness is the way it reveals its secrets not just to high-flown learning, but to those who come to it with humility and hope'. Wright's stimulating comments are combined with his own translation of the Bible text. Tom Wright has undertaken a tremendous task: to provide guides to all the books of the New Testament, and to furnish them with his own fresh translation of the entire text. Each short passage is followed by a highly readable discussion with background information. The series is suitable for personal or group use. The format makes it appropriate also for daily study.
Formerly Chaplain at the Marie Curie Centre, Edinburgh, Tom writes with sensitivity and clarity about real people, including himself, as they begin to understand their journeys of bereavement. This is a book that speaks profoundly to individuals coping wi
ARE YOU IN A LIFE OR DEATH BATTLE FOR SURVIVAL? Have you ever stood on the seashore just after a violent storm, and observed the crashing waves? In some areas, beaches are littered with wreckage of ships, and we shudder at their destruction. A mile or so down the beach, others may be standing on the edge of the water, with their surf boards, waiting for the next wave to recede, so they can follow it out, and ride the next one in. On one hand, disaster, on the other opportunity. How do funeral service professionals view this economic storm? Do they wonder how their funeral home can stay afloat in these turbulent economic waters, or go under like the Titanic. Funeral directors are experts at weathering economic typhoons and tornadoes. In my lifetime, I have seen them survive three major disasters, and come out better because of them.
