It seems much of what society thought was normal about life and the world has changed. A tiny unseen virus has shut down businesses, crippled nations, and taken the lives of precious people. Those lives can never be replaced. And then there is the petty stuff like finding a single roll of toilet paper at the supermarket. People are wearing masks and gloves to protect themselves and others from this unseen enemy potentially hiding inside of friends, neighbors, and family members. Normal just isn’t normal anymore. Normal is just a place in people’s minds that everyone seems to want to get back to as soon as possible. Some people are even calling it a new normal, but what is that? As the concept of going back to better is considered, Dr. Tim Hill, Tim Enochs, and Adam Enochs fully understand that some losses can never be replaced, and in that realm, there is no going back to better. In 49 Days Back to Better, they focus on areas where there is a choice whether to go back to normal in those areas or find the way back to something better.
The true story of a man driven by a burning desire to know God, only to find the ENLIGHTENED realm of Lucifer. As a guru in the Hawaiian jungles, Scott David coveted the ultimate experience; THE SEVEN-RAY INITIATION. At the PINNACLE OF KNOWLEDGE he looked for the only way to peace-death. Instead he found Life & an international adventure that challenged him beyond human endurance. "So exciting, challenging, disturbing & encouraging I had to read it twice." Part 1 of a detailed reference work on Islamic coins. This first volume focuses on the coins of the mediaeval period from the beginnings of Islam up to the 10th century AH/16th century AD.
ABOUT THE BOOK The aim of this book is to share our experience and also encourage all couples who are still faithfully waiting on God for the gift of the fruit of the womb by encouraging them to continue to rely completely on God who is able to give joy and bring them (children), at a time when His name alone will be glorified. The author expresses the uneasiness and seriousness of childlessness, especially when you have given your life and your all to and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. There is no way there would not be some kind of decline from faith to doubt; and, from doubt to giving up completely. The encouragement that this book gives is that God is able, and abundantly able to do exceedingly above our imagination and thinking. This is the crux of the matter, especially to those who are believers in Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ is the ultimate as touching our expectation and contemplation. In Genesis Chapter One, God created the earth and all the things thereof [including human beings] and He was delighted in the work of His hands. Consequently, He pronounced the blessing of fruitfulness. However, despite this God people like Abraham and Sarah, Hannah and Elizabeth at one time or the other experiences delay in having children. However, history has shown that God allowed their delays for different reasons. We knew, for example, that in the Book of 1st Samuel, God allowed Hannah to pass through a period of delay before giving her baby Samuel. In fact, He allowed her to be subjected to ridicule by her mate Peninnah. But what we often fail to understand was the fact that while Hannah was passing through her childless period, God was at the same time giving the family of Prophet Eli time to amend their ways and repent and at the same time He was also watching to see whether Hannah will continue to be faithful in her coming for the yearly pilgrim to Shiloh to offer sacrifice despite her unanswered prayers and humiliations from her rival. He was observing whether because she had not seen any result from her previous comings to Shiloh, she will be discouraged and refuse to attend. In addition to the above, may be in Gods judgment, the Israelites were not yet ready to receive another prophet that would change the course of their nation. But when the time for all these came and the cup of the family of Eli was full, He sent Samuel to Hannah. One can, therefore, infer that Hannahs period of delay serves as a way of filling a vacuum that existed as a result of God giving room for Eli and his sons to repent from their sinful activities. Also in a reverse of fortune, when Samuel was eventually released to Hannah and he became the prophet at Shiloh, in place of Eli and his children; part of the people who might have been coming to him at Shiloh with their sacrifices and for consultations were Elikanah, Peninnah and her children. Maybe this door of opportunity might not have open for Hannah and her son if Samuel had been born earlier. In the New Testaments, God allowed Elizabeth to experience delay and shame before He gave her John the Baptist. God must have looked at the continued faithful service of Zachariah, Elizabeths husband, as priests despite the fact that his wife was not only barren but she had one with trumpet. The fact that the angel of God met Zachariah while he was performing his priestly duty is an indication that he did not allow his personal family challenge to hinder his services to God. The fact that the angel of God linked the birth of John the Baptist with the coming of Jesus Christ [see Luke 1: 17] can be taken as a pointer to the fact that God allowed the delay of childbearing in the life of Zachariah and Elizabeth because He knew that the time was not yet ripe for the birth and manifestation of Jesus Christ on earth. But at
Extending Griffiths’ classical theory of period mappings for compact Kähler manifolds, this book develops and applies a theory of period mappings of “Hodge-de Rham type” for families of open complex manifolds. The text consists of three parts. The first part develops the theory. The second part investigates the degeneration behavior of the relative Frölicher spectral sequence associated to a submersive morphism of complex manifolds. The third part applies the preceding material to the study of irreducible symplectic complex spaces. The latter notion generalizes the idea of an irreducible symplectic manifold, dubbed an irreducible hyperkähler manifold in differential geometry, to possibly singular spaces. The three parts of the work are of independent interest, but intertwine nicely.
This is the SCM Core Text: "Modern Church History" provides an introduction to global Christianity from 1700 to the mid 20th C. The book aims to help students understand the processes, movements and individuals who have contributed to making the contemporary Christian landscape the shape it is in the 21st century. Theologically it takes a wide and inclusive approach to provide a balanced survey of Christianity in all its forms - Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox. Geographically it focuses on the Christian church in the UK, continental Europe and North America, and examines in each location the social movements, campaigns and campaigners, scientific and political challenges that have shaped the Christian Church throughout the period.Beginning with the reaction to Lutherism, it charts the rise of Pietism in Europe throughout the late 17th and early 18th centuries, the influence of John Wesley and the Methodists, in the UK and the 'Great Awakening' in North America. The early chapters summarize the developments within the Christian Church in the UK, with detailed coverage of the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish situations, throughout the 19th Century. This is followed by a summary of the various schools of thought to have developed through the 20th C, including the church's reaction to the 2 world wars in Europe, fundamentalism in the USA. The book also provides specific coverage of the religious situation in North America throughout the modern period covering the development of separate black churches, the 'New Evangelicalism'. It is suitable for level two as well as introductory courses in modern church history or courses concerned with religion, culture and society in the 18th - 20th centuries
This book is the second volume of an illustrated price guide to Islamic coins; the first volume was published in 2015. The Islamic market has long been hampered by two things: the lack of reliable information regarding values due to the historic volatility of auction prices for Islamic coins, and the lack of general reference works with illustrations. This book is an attempt to remedy both these problems. It is intended as an introductory guide, aimed at the general collector; suggestions for further reading are given throughout the book.
A detailed guide to financial market performance during financial crises With the financial markets seemingly careening from one crisis to another, it's vital for today’s investors and traders to have an historical perspective on market performance during times of great turmoil. In this book, Tim Knight provides an exhaustive analysis of financial market behavior prior, during, and following tumultuous events since 1600. Making copious use of charts and basic technical analysis, Knight demonstrates how external shocks tend to create extreme reactions in the financial markets and how these predictable reactions provide opportunities for investors and traders to profit. Knight traverses five centuries of financial market history, from Tulipmania in the 1600s to the contemporary sovereign debt crisis. He looks at each event from the prism of the financial markets, examining the market climate prior to the event, during the event, and following the event. Draws essential lessons from history providing investors and traders with guidelines to better navigate markets in today's tumultuous times Offers valuable insights on understanding and anticipating market responses to shocks and crises Companion website with a Q&A section contains charts from key moments in past financial crises and asks readers to choose whether to go long, short, or step aside If you're looking for a better way to make it today's dynamic markets, look no further than this timely book.
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Geography / Earth Science - Meteorology, Aeronomy, Climatology, grade: 3,0, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, language: English, abstract: This thesis is going to identify the differences for the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 2.6 W/m2 scenario of the 2 meter temperature, daily precipitation and relative humidity in the Mediterranean area (30°N - 50°N and 10°W - 45°E) compared to the reference period 1971 – 2000; and also the development and main characteristics of the RCPs especially for the chosen RCP 2.6 scenario. All four RCPs deal with the time lapse from the year 1850 to 2100 and expect a continuous radiative forcing, except RCP 2.6, which is also called RCP 3-P.D. that means peak and decline. The chosen data is from the CORDEX project being part of the CMIP5, has a EUR-11 resolution (0.11°) with EC-Earth as driving GCM and RCA4 as RCM and also r12i1p1 ensemble in RCP 2.6 scenario with the periods 1971 – 2000 (reference period) and 2021 – 2050; 2071 – 2100 (experiment period). This thesis considers the Paris Agreement, which targets a maximum global warming of 1.5°C. Under the RCP 2.6 conditions the first target of the Paris Agreement, maximum 1.5°C global warming, will be achieved in the Mediterranean area compared to the chosen reference period. The Mediterranean area is characterized by mild and wet winters and also by hot and dry summers. Moreover, in the Mediterranean north the climate is arid and temperate whilst in its south it is rainy. Geographically, the Mediterranean area counts 21 countries and lies between the subtropical and temperate climate zone. This supports the evaporation along with the decreasing of soil moisture and the flow of rivers. Such a development may produce a greater risk of future droughts and heatwaves. Very strong summers in the Mediterranean area are associated with Asian and African monsoons and a strong geopotential blocking. In the future, annual mean temperatures and annual precipitation over the entire European region will increase stronger than globally. It is projected that in Europe the largest warmings and the most increasing precipitation will occur in the Mediterranean area. In addition, the number of rainy days per year will mainly increase in the north. Moreover, it is expected that there will be higher wind speed for the European region. The motivation for this topic is that the Mediterranean area will be the most prominent hotspot for the climate change in the upcoming periods. An increase of aerosols in Central Europe, Africa and Asia will significantly influence the future climate of the Mediterranean area.
The date when Christ's Kingdom will come to earth has been the "Holy Grail" of biblical prophecy since Daniel first inquired. Countless Christians have diligently searched for this hidden treasure. It has escaped the meticulous, chronological study of Sir Isaac Newton and the tomfoolery of Harold Camping. The earliest Christians did not believe, as do most modern Christians, that the date of Christ's return is completely out of reach. They held an eschatology called, "Chiliasm," a view that saw all of human history as a "week" of seven millennia, with the seventh millennium being the coming Kingdom of Christ on earth. This view seems to have been unanimously taught by those who had close connections to the Apostle John. Knowing the year of Jesus' second coming was merely a matter of putting together a biblical chronology from creation. This process would yield the date of His coming in the 6000th year from creation. This book first demonstrates that Chiliasm is both biblical and apostolic. It follows Chiliasm's history and demise, as Amillennialism displaced it from the fourth century onward. Having demonstrated that the Millennial Week theory is correct, the author shows why the early Christian chronologies failed. He then presents his own complete biblical chronology, from creation to the second coming of Christ, drawn exclusively from the data in the Hebrew Bible. This chronology is developed using the Jubilee calendar grid that God gave to Israel, but they never actually followed. Placing the biblical chronological data on this calendar grid yields an amazing symmetry to the biblical historical record, and a number of remarkable coincidences, such as: 1. The death of Noah and birth of Abraham were in the 2000th year from creation, on the 40th Jubilee year. 2. The Exodus from Egypt was in the 2500th year from creation, the 50th Jubilee year (A Jubilee of Jubilees). 3. The decree of Cyrus the Great ending the 70-year Babylonian exile was the year 3500 from creation, the 70th Jubilee year (a double fulfillment of Jeremiah's "70 years" prophecy). The biblical chronology presented here is completely unique. It is the original research of the author over a period of many years, presented in a concise way, with over 500 footnotes for reference purposes. It shows that we are only about two decades away from the "TIME of the END.

This study is the first to show how state courts enabled the mass expulsion of Native Americans from their southern homelands in the 1830s. Our understanding of that infamous period, argues Tim Alan Garrison, is too often molded around the towering personalities of the Indian removal debate, including President Andrew Jackson, Cherokee leader John Ross, and United States Supreme Court Justice John Marshall. This common view minimizes the impact on Indian sovereignty of some little-known legal cases at the state level. Because the federal government upheld Native American self-dominion, southerners bent on expropriating Indian land sought a legal toehold through state supreme court decisions. As Garrison discusses Georgia v. Tassels (1830), Caldwell v. Alabama (1831), Tennessee v. Forman (1835), and other cases, he shows how proremoval partisans exploited regional sympathies. By casting removal as a states' rights, rather than a moral, issue, they won the wide support of a land-hungry southern populace. The disastrous consequences to Cherokees, Creeks, Choctaws, Chickasaws, and Seminoles are still unfolding. Important in its own right, jurisprudence on Indian matters in the antebellum South also complements the legal corpus on slavery. Readers will gain a broader perspective on the racial views of the southern legal elite, and on the logical inconsistencies of southern law and politics in the conceptual period of the anti-Indian and proslavery ideologies.
The seventeenth and eighteenth centuries represent a period of remarkable intellectual vitality in British philosophy, as figures such as Hobbes, Locke, Hume, and Smith attempted to explain the origins and sustaining mechanisms of civil society. Their insights continue to inform how political and moral theorists think about the world in which we live. From Moral Theology to Moral Philosophy reconstructs a debate which preoccupied contemporaries but which seems arcane to us today. It concerned the relationship between reason and revelation as the two sources of mankind's knowledge, particularly in the ethical realm: to what extent, they asked, could reason alone discover the content and obligatory character of morality? This was held to be a historical, rather than a merely theoretical question: had the philosophers of pre-Christian antiquity, ignorant of Christ, been able satisfactorily to explain the moral universe? What role had natural theology played in their ethical theories - and was it consistent with the teachings delivered by revelation? Much recent scholarship has drawn attention to the early-modern interest in two late Hellenistic philosophical traditions - Stoicism and Epicureanism. Yet in the English context, three figures above all - John Locke, Conyers Middleton, and David Hume - quite deliberately and explicitly identified their approaches with Cicero as the representative of an alternative philosophical tradition, critical of both the Stoic and the Epicurean: academic scepticism. All argued that Cicero provided a means of addressing what they considered to be the most pressing question facing contemporary philosophy: the relationship between moral philosophy and moral theology.
The setting is the first half of the 14th century. A time immediately before the commencement of the Hundred Years War between England and France. Edward III is on the throne of England; Philip VI is King of France. This is a story of two soldiers. Outwardly, they are very different but yet they are so very much alike. The fate of two Kingdoms rests on the shoulders of these two men. Sent on a vital mission by King Edward and aided by an old friend, they are chased and harried half way across France by French Troopers. To get the job done they will have to make alliances with two polar opposite groups of people in order to see their mission through.
This title was first published in 2002: Since the invention of printing in the mid-fifteenth century the production, distribution and consumption of printed matter have been the principal means through which new ideas and representations have been spread. In recent times cultural historians have taken a growing interest in the previously somewhat isolated field of book history, shifting the study of printing and publishing into the centre of historical concern. This study of print and printing culture has naturally led historians to a concern with its urban context. The urban environment was fundamental to the development of printing from the outset, since it was in towns that the necessary combination of technical and entrepreneurial competencies were located, and where a growing demand for printed texts was to be found. Print permeated the urban experience at every level, and formed the chief means by which its ideas, values and beliefs were exported to the rest of society. In this way print promoted the broader urbanisation of society, by spreading urban attitudes and ideas beyond the limits of the city. It is with the urban cultural environment that this volume is primarily concerned, underlining the centrality of printing and publishing to the understanding of urban culture. Focusing particularly on post 1800 France and Germany, it considers a wide range of printed matter and engages with a number of recurrent historical issues, such as the role of printing in urban economies, the construction of metropolitan identities and the testing of moral boundaries.
New York Times' Top Books of 2019 Politico Magazine's chief political correspondent provides a rollicking insider's look at the making of the modern Republican Party--how a decade of cultural upheaval, populist outrage, and ideological warfare made the GOP vulnerable to a hostile takeover from the unlikeliest of insurgents: Donald J. Trump. The 2016 election was a watershed for the United States. But, as Tim Alberta explains in American Carnage, to understand Trump's victory is to view him not as the creator of this era of polarization and bruising partisanship, but rather as its most manifest consequence. American Carnage is the story of a president's rise based on a country's evolution and a party's collapse. As George W. Bush left office with record-low approval ratings and Barack Obama led a Democratic takeover of Washington, Republicans faced a moment of reckoning: They had no vision, no generation of new leaders, and no energy in the party's base. Yet Obama's forceful pursuit of his progressive agenda, coupled with the nation's rapidly changing cultural and demographic landscape, lit a fire under the right, returning Republicans to power and inviting a bloody struggle for the party's identity in the post-Bush era. The factions that emerged--one led by absolutists like Jim Jordan and Ted Cruz, the other led by pragmatists like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell--engaged in a series of devastating internecine clashes and attempted coups for control. With the GOP's internal fissures rendering it legislatively impotent, and that impotence fueling a growing resentment toward the political class and its institutions, the stage was set for an outsider to crash the party. When Trump descended a gilded escalator to announce his run in the summer of 2015, the candidate had met the moment. Only by viewing Trump as the culmination of a decade-long civil war inside the Republican Party--and of the parallel sense of cultural, socioeconomic, and technological disruption during that period--can we appreciate how he won the White House and consider the fundamental questions at the center of America's current turmoil. How did a party obsessed with the national debt vote for trillion-dollar deficits and record-setting spending increases? How did the party of compassionate conservatism become the party of Muslim bans and walls? How did the party of family values elect a thrice-divorced philanderer? And, most important, how long can such a party survive? Loaded with exclusive reporting and based off hundreds of interviews--including with key players such as President Trump, Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Jim DeMint, and Reince Priebus, and many others--American Carnage takes us behind the scenes of this tumultuous period as we've never seen it before and establishes Tim Alberta as the premier chronicler of this political era.
BACKGROUND Sir Isaac Newton hrought to the world the idea of modeling the motion of physical systems with equations. It was necessary to invent calculus along the way, since fundamental equations of motion involve velocities and accelerations, of position. His greatest single success was his discovery that which are derivatives the motion of the planets and moons of the solar system resulted from a single fundamental source: the gravitational attraction of the hodies. He demonstrated that the ohserved motion of the planets could he explained hy assuming that there is a gravitational attraction he tween any two ohjects, a force that is proportional to the product of masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. The circular, elliptical, and parabolic orhits of astronomy were v INTRODUCTION no longer fundamental determinants of motion, but were approximations of laws specified with differential equations. His methods are now used in modeling motion and change in all areas of science. Subsequent generations of scientists extended the method of using differ ential equations to describe how physical systems evolve. But the method had a limitation. While the differential equations were sufficient to determine the behavior-in the sense that solutions of the equations did exist-it was frequently difficult to figure out what that behavior would be. It was often impossible to write down solutions in relatively simple algebraic expressions using a finite number of terms. Series solutions involving infinite sums often would not converge beyond some finite time.
This book is the result of a large-scale yet detailed study of early medieval grave furnishings from the Netherlands, aiming at the creation of a comprehensive artefact typology and updated relative chronology for this under-explored period in the Low Countries.
We go beyond the conditioned limitations of a fragile, reactive egoic mind; beyond the stubbornness and fear of what we think we already know. At the point where the unknown becomes our friend, a transformation begins to occur. We feel a heartfelt sincerity that the wonderful is not only possible, but well on its way. Things beyond what we dream of suddenly begin to appear in our lives. This is not a book about answers. Each of us already has those inside. This is a book that offers insights into the deeper lessons of both golf and life. As we master our inner journeys, things outside of us fall effortlessly into place. We come to observe and (k)now - we know in the Now - the intimate connection between these two beautiful games; the essence of which are one in the same. Spirit of Golf Thoughts of the Day are read in emails and on our website by thousands throughout the world every day. Our intent in offering these thoughts, for which there is no charge, is to share with seekers of the inner game insights as they relate to both golf and life. This book examines the working procedures of parliamentary party groups within specialised committees - the backstage but primary means for MPs to influence policy. It explains which MPs specialise in particular policy areas, how they make policy choices in committees, and, subsequently, how these individual decisions are aggregated and ‘unified’ within and via parliamentary party groups. In doing so, the book expertly reveals the internal working procedures of parliaments and the role of individual MPs vis-á-vis the parliamentary party group leadership. Based on an analysis of more than 3,000 committee assignments and over 100 in-depth interviews with MPs, it shows that individual experts in committees have a central role and decision-making power which is more varied and decentralised from the leadership than commonly assumed. It demonstrates that most policy decisions are prepared bottom-up rather than dictated top-down and that parliamentary party groups are not strictly hierarchical organisations dominated by elites. This book will be of key interest to scholars and students of legislative and parliamentary studies, representative democracy, comparative politics, and journalists and practitioners within parliaments.
