There is no conflict between the Bible and science that is evidence-based. The conflict is between belief in the Biblical Worldview and belief in a non-biblical worldview. If a claim about nature is not testable or observable and then confirmable, it is not science. This book shows where evidence-based science supports the Biblical Worldview, and where evidence-based science conflicts with the other so-called “scientific” worldviews of our modern times. For instance, experiments have shown over and over that life does not arise from chemicals, observations show that biological change is limited, chance does not cause anything, and the Big Bang violates the principle of cause and effect, is not testable, and therefore is not scientific. In his 1859 book, On the Origin of Species, Charles Darwin correctly wrote about his “belief in the transmutation of species” (p302), that “The theory of natural selection is grounded on . . . belief” (p320), and that he believed we descended from one common ancestor (p484). Darwin believed in evolution because he had no evidence. Concerning On the Origin of Species, he admitted that “the whole volume is one long argument” (p459). Concerning God, Darwin wrote about “. . . the laws impressed on matter by the Creator” (p488). Yet, evolutionist Jerry Coyne of the University of Chicago wrote that “the bulk of Darwin’s 1859 book, On the Origin of Species (first edition) actually comprises evidence for evolution.” This claim was in a 2014 letter from atheists complaining about the author to his University President. A signer of this letter (from the Freedom From Religion Foundation) was British multi-millionaire, Richard Dawkins. Atheists such as Coyne and Dawkins have no evidence for their claims that life came from chemicals, that we descended from a common ancestor, or that there is no God. They believe these claims.

A model-based approach to the design and implementation of Computational Sensor Networks (CSNs) is proposed. This high-level paradigm for the development and application of sensor device networks provides a strong scientific computing foundation, as well as the basis for robust software engineering practice. The three major components of this approach include (1) models of phenomena to be monitored, (2) models of sensors and actuators, and (3) models of the sensor network computation. We propose guiding principles to identify the state or structure of the phenomenon being sensed, or of the sensor network itself. This is called computational modeling. These methods are then incorporated into the operational system of the sensor network and adapted to system performance requirements to produce a mapping of the computation onto the system architecture. This is called real-time computational mapping and allows modification of system parameters according to real-time performance measures. This book deals with the development of a mathematical and modular software development framework to achieve computational sensor networks.

About the Author: Barrett Thomas “Tom” Beard entered the Navy as an enlisted man in 1953 and completed flight training as a Navcad in 1955. With a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserve, he flew operational missions—including carrier landings—in A-l Skyraiders and E-l Tracers. He qualified in more than a dozen other types of Navy aircraft, including F-9 Cougars. He served two tours as flight instructor in his ten years with the Navy. In 1965, following his return from a Vietnam tour at Yankee Station, Mr. Beard entered the Coast Guard. He flew in SAR operations in the HU-16E Albatross, the C-130 Hercules, and the HH-52A Seaguard. He qualified as a seaplane pilot, a shipboard helicopters pilot, and a Coast Guard standardization pilot, accumulating more than 6,000 military flight hours during his career. Mr. Beard holds an FAA airline transport pilot rating and a commercial helicopter rating, plus a Coast Guard master’s license for inspected vessels. After retiring in 1975, Mr. Beard returned to college, earning a master’s degree in history from Western Washington University in Bellingham. Following employment as a museum director, he turned back to the sea, in sailboats. Over the past twenty years, he and his wife, Carolyn, have sailed nearly 150,000 miles and visited about fifty countries as they’ve circled the world one and a half times. Mr. Beard takes vacations from these voyages to return home to research and write articles in his field of maritime history.
