The scope encompasses materials and device reliability: reliability evaluation of technologies; failure analysis and advanced analysis techniques such as SEM, E-beam, optical emission microscopy, acoustic microscopy techniques; liquid crystal techniques; noise measurement, reliability prediction and simulation; reliability indicators; failure mechanisms, including charge migration, trapping, oxide breakdown, hot carrier effects, electro-migration, stress migration; package- related failure mechanisms; effects of operational and environmental stresses on reliability.
The Kreuzberg File is a cross between a thriller and a mystery. The action takes place in the recent past. The central character is the private investigator Bill McDonald, who works for a law firm in New York. Because of his knowledge of German, he is sent to Berlin when an important file, seemingly the property of his firm’s major client, is missing. The reader follows Bill’s perilous search for the missing file, which begins in Berlin and leads him to Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Deadly violence becomes a regular part of his pursuit because a criminal organization is also looking for the data of innovative medical research contained in the file. What seems initially to be a straightforward job turns into a frustrating task because Bill finds out that he was never given the complete information about his case. There are moments when it is not even sure whether the file actually exists. Bill’s situation becomes very more tenuous when he realizes that he cannot fully trust his own employer. Against all odds, he succeeds to recover the file and can return it to its rightful owner, a small start-up in Berlin that did the original research.
Analytical instrumentation is crucial to research in molecular biology, medicine, geology, food science, materials science, forensics, and many other fields. Each year thirty-two seniors at American universities are awarded Rhodes Scholarships, which entitle them to spend two or three years studying at the University of Oxford. The program, founded by the British colonialist and entrepreneur Cecil Rhodes and established in 1903, has become the world's most famous academic scholarship and has brought thousands of young Americans to study in England. Many of these later became national leaders in government, law, education, literature, and other fields. Among them were the politicians J. William Fulbright, Bill Bradley, and Bill Clinton; the public policy analysts Robert Reich and George Stephanopoulos; the writer Robert Penn Warren; the entertainer Kris Kristofferson; and the Supreme Court Justices Byron White and David Souter.
