Smooth and efficient processes are important for organizations in order to be able to survive or, even more difficult, to operate successfully in a constantly changing environment of fierce competition. Ort account of that, processes must be understood and formally described. The modelling of processes is a major task in BPM. Also in the course of (total) quality management, often in connection with certification, as well as for the selection and installation of standard software products and the development of individual applications, process models are needed. The search for new forms of working, and especially the rapid development of telecommunication technologies, has led to a revival of the discussion about teleworking which has already been started approximately 20 years ago. In comparison to BPM, the development of teleworking is less advanced. For several reasons, among them the prospect of new jobs in less developed regions, teleworking is promoted by governments as well as by international and supranational organizations. Hence, it can be assumed that this form of working will become more and more popular. For responsible managers in their different businesses this means that they will more frequently be confronted with the task of integrating teleworking in existing processes. If a company decides to make teleworking possible for some of its employees, several aspects haue to be considered. Technology: The teleworker's place of work has to be equipped with technical devices as well as the company might need additional equipment. Infrastructure is necessary for communication between teleworker and company. Organization: Jobs that are appropriate for teleworking have to be identified. In this context the current processes should be critically regarded, and if necessary adapted. Legislation: The form of the teleworker's employment contract, employer's liability for accidents, regulations regarding working hours are some of the questions that have to be tackled. Traditionally, knot theory deals with diagrams of knots and the search of invariants of diagrams which are invariant under the well known Reidemeister moves. This book goes one step beyond: it gives a method to construct invariants for one parameter famillies of diagrams and which are invariant under 'higher' Reidemeister moves. Luckily, knots in 3-space, often called classical knots, can be transformed into knots in the solid torus without loss of information. It turns out that knots in the solid torus have a particular rich topological moduli space. It contains many 'canonical' loops to which the invariants for one parameter families can be applied, in order to get a new sort of invariants for classical knots.
Until 1947, professional ball players were paid only from opening day to season's end. Even during the season, a lot of their expenses came out of their own pockets. Even the best-paid players had trouble making ends meet. One answer to their money woes was barnstorming--tours out of season. Cities lacking their own major league teams were happy to host big-league players for such events, as well as for special exhibition games whose proceeds sometimes went to local charities. Here is a history of barnstorming and exhibition games from 1901 (when both of the two current major leagues began operating) through 1962 (when a team led by Willie Mays was unsuccessful in its attempt at a tour, signaling an end to true barnstorming). Decade by decade, it covers the teams, the games, and the players for a detailed look at how barnstorming and exhibition brought big-league baseball to the backyard ballparks of America.
Moses Cleaveland was sent to survey the lands of the Western Reserve of Connecticut into townships in 1796. Due to a strike, the surveyors were given plots within the new Euclid Township as part of their compensation. They sold these plots to arriving settlers from the east. Aristarkus and Sarah Brainard, the area's first family, arrived in 1831. In 1877, the Mayfield Plank Road was constructed allowing a steady stream of people and goods to easily travel from eastern farms to markets found at Doan's Corners in Cleveland, Ohio. As this part of Euclid Township grew, the area became Euclidville Village, later changed to Lyndhurst Village in 1920. The post-World War II building boom brought many young families to Lyndhurst and transformed the sleepy village into a charming 21st-century suburb.

One-Cocycles and Knot Invariants is about classical knots, i.e., smooth oriented knots in 3-space. It introduces discrete combinatorial analysis in knot theory in order to solve a global tetrahedron equation. This new technique is then used to construct combinatorial 1-cocycles in a certain moduli space of knot diagrams. The construction of the moduli space makes use of the meridian and the longitude of the knot. The combinatorial 1-cocycles are therefore lifts of the well-known Conway polynomial of knots, and they can be calculated in polynomial time. The 1-cocycles can distinguish loops consisting of knot diagrams in the moduli space up to homology. They give knot invariants when they are evaluated on canonical loops in the connected components of the moduli space. They are a first candidate for numerical knot invariants which can perhaps distinguish the orientation of knots.
