The Last Supper has been thrilling audiences with its original theatrical approach of combining actors with a contemporary choir. It is the story of Leonardo da Vinci's struggle to complete his famous mural. Actors portray Leonardo, Jesus, the twelve Apostles, an Angel and two women, while singers express the meaning and emotion of the action through song. The climax of the piece is a stunning moment where the mural is re-created on the stage."--Publisher

Honestly is a humorous glimpse at the memories of growing up in a family of two parents and ten children. The names have been changed, so as to not impugn the character of any of my siblings. What could be taken from this effort is that the very young are not necessarily as responsible for their antics as older folk, but as one matures, they are held more accountable. This is as it should be. We must remember that character is built over time, and so our toleration flows more easily for the immature. We see humor in the reflection of our own childhood and delight in the innocence of all children. Each story stands on its own. And with only a few exceptions are they placed in any order, chronologically, or otherwise. In general, the time frames are noted with each chapter heading, but there is no pecking order. I hope you enjoy the book!

Thomas S. Konrad analyzes the management control design and reveals critical success factors of strategically oriented public-private partnerships for development between international governmental actors and the private sector. He builds a sound basis for the identification of a research gap and the derivation of research questions. The results generate sufficient evidence to answer these questions and therefore to close the identified research gap. Finally, he excelled in the discussion of the results by making a contribution of theory and by providing substantive recommendations to practitioners equally well.
This book collects Thomas Risse's most important articles together in a single volume. Covering a wide range of issues – the end of the Cold War, transatlantic relations, the "democratic peace," human rights, governance in areas of limited statehood, Europeanization, European identity and public spheres, most recently comparative regionalism – it is testament to the breadth and excellence of this highly respected International Relations scholar's work. The collection is organized thematically – domestic politics and international relations, international sources of domestic change, and the diffusion of ideas and institutions – and a brand new introductory essay provides additional coherence. This text will be of key interest to scholars and students of International Relations, European Politics, and Comparative Politics. In this section, detailed discussions will center on clinical analysis, urine analysis, monitoring of environmental pollution, radioimmune assay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, enzyme electrodes, and other approaches involving immobilized enzymes, antibodies, and antigens. In the final section, research workers describe and discuss the perspectives of immobilized enzymes and proteins. Here, they speculate on the future potential of possible approaches, even though these may not have been extensively studied or tested at the laboratory stage. The biomedical applications of enzymes and proteins, especially in the thera peutic area, is in a very early stage of development. Much remains to be explored and studied, and the area is wide open for investigators interested in original research in a new interdisciplinary area. References Chang, T. M. The Former Prophets of the Hebrew Bible includes the books of Joshua through 2 Kings; it is a narrative of ancient Israel's history of some seven hundred years from the 'conquest' of Canaan to the exile, when Israel lost the land. Thomas Mann adoptsa critical perspective and incorporates many distinct literary sources from different times into his work. The result is a compelling example of ancient historiography as well as an impressive artistic achievement. The book contains fascinating (andoften horrifying) stories of war, religious fanaticism, terror, and disaster, as well as stories of deep personal loyalty, friendship, and faith. Finally, in a deeply thoughtful and constructive way, The Former Prophets addresses perennial questionslike, amongst others, 'What is the relationship between divine sovereignty and human political institutions?' or 'In what sense are historical events the result of human acts and also of divine Providence?

“The dreams of a maiden tall and fair, the rise of an archer beyond compare.” When former soldier turned eye doctor Gerrin Tyne calls out to the heavens lamenting about his uncertain future, he is completely unprepared for the answer. Things begin to change when Gerrin purchases a strange camera at a flea market that records both light and shadows. A mission of mercy then puts Gerrin in the path of a hurricane where he stumbles upon a strange woman dressed as a bride and finds himself cast into a medieval world while attempting to flee from an inhuman creature that is devoted to his destruction. Gerrin awakens to find himself in a medieval world similar to his own yet startlingly different. In this world he finds himself caught in the path of the mad despot Axe Commander Vix, haunted by a beautiful silver eyed maiden that he met in his dreams, and compelled to aid the suffering people of Wheatvale by a mysterious messenger that appeared to him in both worlds. Keeva Woodwright is a vision to be sure. The carpenter’s daughter is tall, winsome in both face and figure, and able to captivate many with her silver eyes. The fair maiden thought that her life was over when she was taken prisoner by the Savant and purchased by Vix, the cruel king of the Savant. The silver eyes that drew so many to Keeva carry with them a weakness that she must keep a secret if she hopes to survive in the royal court in which she is supposed to act as a decoration. Keeva’s only escape from her torment is when she finds herself in an alien dream world where she meets a man like no one she has ever met before. However, the line between fantasy and reality begins to blur when she begins to hear word of a mysterious archer that has set the Savant king on edge.
Drawing on oral histories, diaries, correspondence, postwar testimony from both American and Japanese participants, and interviews with survivors, Thomas provides this riveting account of the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944, the culminating battle of the war in the Pacific. Photos.
The vast literature on Virginia Woolf's life, work, and marriage falls into two groups. A large majority is certain that she was mentally ill, and a small minority is equally certain that she was not mentally ill but was misdiagnosed by psychiatrists. In this daring exploration of Woolf's life and work, Thomas Szasz--famed for his radical critique of psychiatric concepts, coercions, and excuses--examines the evidence and rejects both views. Instead, he looks at how Virginia Woolf, as well as her husband Leonard, used the concept of madness and the profession of psychiatry to manage and manipulate their own and each other's lives.Do we explain achievement when we attribute it to the fictitious entity we call ""genius""? Do we explain failure when we attribute it to the fictitious entity we call ""madness""? Or do we deceive ourselves the same way that the person deceives himself when he attributes the easy ignition of hydrogen to its being ""flammable""? Szasz interprets Virginia Woolf's life and work as expressions of her character, and her character as the ""product"" of her free will. He offers this view as a corrective against the prevailing, ostensibly scientific view that attributes both her ""madness"" and her ""genius"" to biological-genetic causes. We tend to attribute exceptional achievement to genius, and exceptional failure to madness. Both, says Szasz, are fictitious entities.

William Halsey was the most famous naval officer of World War II. His fearlessness in carrier raids against Japan, his steely resolve at Guadalcanal, and his impulsive blunder at the Battle of Leyte Gulf made him the “Patton of the Pacific” and solidified his reputation as a decisive, aggressive fighter prone to impetuous errors of judgment in the heat of battle. In this definitive biography, Thomas Hughes punctures the popular caricature of the “fighting admiral” to reveal the truth of Halsey’s personal and professional life as it was lived in times of war and peace. Halsey, the son of a Navy officer whose alcoholism scuttled a promising career, committed himself wholeheartedly to naval life at an early age. An audacious and inspiring commander to his men, he met the operational challenges of the battle at sea against Japan with dramatically effective carrier strikes early in the war. Yet his greatest contribution to the Allied victory was as commander of the combined sea, air, and land forces in the South Pacific during the long slog up the Solomon Islands chain, one of the war’s most daunting battlegrounds. Halsey turned a bruising slugfest with the Japanese navy into a rout. Skillfully mediating the constant strategy disputes between the Army and the Navy—as well as the clashes of ego between General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester Nimitz—Halsey was the linchpin of America’s Pacific war effort when its outcome was far from certain.
