The author weaves the backstory of both boys through action and dialogue, with impeccably researched details. Her descriptions of the scenes and action make a reader feel as if they are right there in the middle of it all. Readers can’t miss the symbolism found throughout the book and a wonderful way to learn about the past at the same time. This book should go far, and not just with young audiences. Then three Monets mysteriously disappear from the art gallery, and his brother could be to blame. Liz decides to try to help him out with his dilemma and the two of them, along with Liz's father, end up trying to recover the three stolen Monet paintings. The search for the stolen paintings takes the trio to London and Paris. While there they have time for sightseeing and romance, if Liz will only allow herself to fall in love.

If someone suggested this scenario to me ten years ago, I would have done little more than raise an eyebrow. That is no longer the case. I don’t consider myself an alarmist. The fact is, however, that more and more groups and organizations openly show bigotry toward the Christian faith every year. There’s a notable increase in lawsuits over prayer in schools. Christian business owners that promote conservative views can face devastating retaliation from anti-Christian groups. These groups often march and demonstrate and protest, and they certainly have a right to be heard. The concern I have, however, is about the possibility that something more sinister may evolve. Perhaps the people to watch more closely are the individuals that are not marching and not protesting. Many terrorists are not so easily recognized. Any one of the hundreds of anti-Christian hate groups in this country could have members that quietly go rogue, at any time, targeting Christians and other religious groups with their hidden agenda. This story is of one such hate group who has managed to infiltrate a police department in a Texas town. The year is 1991, and the fuse of intolerance has been lit. Joe Conti and his family have been added to the list of targeted Christians, along with a number of Christian police officers, in the Windbluff Police Department, in northeast Texas. They quickly find the battle is quite impossible to win without divine intervention. This book is a work of fiction. None of the characters are real; however, some people in this book were inspired by real characters I have known.

Banks are increasingly using financial technologies ("fintech") to deliver products and services and maximize their profits. Technology enthusiasts and consumer advocates laude the field for its potential to expand access to banking and finance. However, if history is any indication, fintech stands to reinforce digital forms of redlining and enable banks' continued racialized exploitation of Black and Brown communities. Banking on a Revolution takes the perspective that the financial system needs a revolution-not the impending revolution driven by technology. Studying the various ways the financial system bolsters whites by exploiting and marginalizing Black and Brown communities, Terri Friedline challenges the optimistic belief that fintech can expand access to banking and finance. Friedline applies the lens of financialized racial neoliberal capitalism to demonstrate the financial system's inherent racism, and explores examples from student loan debt, corporate landlords, community benefits agreements, and banking and payday lending. Banking on a Revolution is deeply rooted in theory and research, and it presents new interpretations of the climate crisis, student loan debt, and community benefits agreements and their relationships to the financial system. The book makes a compelling case for a revolutionized financial system that centers the needs, experiences, and perspectives of those it has historically excluded, marginalized, and exploited.
