A Specially Tender Piece of Eternity examines Virginia Woolf's treatment of time both as a theme of her works and as an essential element in her experimental narrative techniques. By drawing on both stylistic analysis and philosophy, Teresa Prudente investigates Paul Riceour's concept of a-linear time within Woolf's work, as both the possibility for the subject to enter a timeless temporal dimension (in Orlando and To the Lighthouse) and as a tragic alteration and separation from reality (in Mrs. Dalloway). Through the examination of the meta-narrative elements in Woolf's novels, and of her original employment of interior monologue and free indirect speech, Prudente redefines and reassesses Woolf's experiments in narrative that challenged ineffability while recreating moments of ecstasy. The subjects of the book include not only such familiar figures as Sor Juana and Santa Teresa de Jesús, but also of less well known women of their time. The author uses primary documents, published works, artwork, and critical sources drawn from history, literature, theatre, philosophy, women's studies, education and science. Her analysis juxtaposes theories espoused by men and women of the period concerning the aptitude and appropriateness of educating women with the actual practices to be found in convents, schools, court, theaters and homes. What emerges is a fuller picture of women's learning in the early modern period.

Spanish Traditional Ballads from Aragon is a collection of 308 oral traditional ballads representing fifty-nine different text-types that author Michele S. de Cruz-Saenz collected on trips to 280 Aragonese towns and villages. In the course of her study, she interviewed 143 informants from seventy-five towns. They were men and women, ranging from illiterate to professional, whose ages were from ten to more than one hundred years. It was her intention to rescue this aspect of Spanish folklore, which is quickly disappearing in the wake of agricultural mechanization and modern technology.
