Who are these royal twins, Prince Stefan and Princess Anne, born to the monarchs of New Britannia, one hundred years after the World Peace Treaty? They are mystical and religious in an increasingly secular world. The prince has chosen Anglican ordination, studying also with a Buddhist Master. In his mortal aspects, he is in love with Rebecca, who must resolve being married to a prince who is also a priest. He must find the path between his mortal love and his love for the Glory. Stefan's best friend from childhood, Aidan, is in love with Princess Anne, afraid to declare himself to her as she works with her research foundation and is courted by a charming new arrival. Their much-loved kinsman is their Uncle Michael, who is of Old Roman nobility and who now is Pope. He needs Stefan to find a way to thwart the greed of developers, who want to claim the great ancient monastery lands of Terre Les Anges, the Land of Angels. Stefan must go there, his identity secret, to find the deed written almost two thousand years before, some of it lost, some in pieces, that will thwart the developers. Meanwhile, Aidan is in despair over Anne. He disappears, choosing perhaps to die of heartbreak among the marginal people who reject life in the New West. Stefan must find him, and both twins are waiting on the Glory to reveal their purpose for this time they are on earth. Much of their path has been mystery, but all of them must resolve the issues of their tangled lives.

420 In a world torn by war and terror, a pandemic descends, decimating every nation, leading finally to the creation of a World Peace Treaty. To achieve the Peace, the world has been divided into the democracies and constitutional monarchies called The New West, and the theocratic governments, ruled by religion, which the West calls The Veiled World, although those countries call themselves The Faithful World. Neutral lands and waters separate the two, although pirates and mercenaries still operate in those areas, pursued by The World Police. Alyssa Craig, a noted young professor, has presented a paper at the World League, where a young king from The Veiled World has seen her and fallen in love with her. Alyssa then won a prize, a cruise given to twenty young women for their scholarly and scientific achievements, but their ship was attacked by pirates who would traffic the women into their criminal underground. Alyssa is saved by the young king who brings her as his concubine to his Fortress City in his home country. The story shows how she makes a life there as she tries to regain her freedom, her adventures there, her effect on the people she encounters, and the World Peacekeepers' efforts to reclaim her. This book is the prequel to Land of Angels: Book 1--The Holy Path.

Prince Stefan of New Britannia knows that he must find the way to conquer his human pride and follow the path of grace. This was commanded by the Glory as Book 1 of Land of Angels ended. Now it seems that Stefan's path and that of his twin sister, Princess Anne, will diverge for the first time in their many lives. The Glory has given them the powers of angels--they can heal, they can hear the thoughts of others and see both back in time and, when the Glory permits, into the future. Stefan expects that he will know the Glory's specific plans for him immediately. Instead, he must remain at the Royal Estate through Advent until Ash Wednesday of the coming year. On that day, he will give an internationally screened sermon to mark the beginning of Lent. Stefan longs to return to Master Koto in New Tibet to find out the Glory's will but instead is called upon once again to help his uncle, who is Pope Adrian X, and the monastery of Terre Les Anges, the Land of Angels. He must also help Brother Luke, who was with Stefan in Rome when they found Stefan's best friend, Aidan. Rebecca, Stefan's love, has returned to her studies and a life without Stefan. She wants to explore further the life of Alyssa Craig, as recorded in The Veiled World, the first book of this trilogy. Now Aidan is set to marry Princess Anne, and Stefan has time only for a brief visit to New Tibet until Lent begins. On his return, he accompanies Rebecca to New America, and they are told the secret history of what happened after Alyssa returned to New America. Finally, Stefan is called to the path of grace, where the Glory has given Stefan a choice to follow it or not, and which means he might die in this life. The decision is his.
