My reason for writing this book concerning speaking is to present my four basic steps to help others as they speak! VEGA, the title of this book, comes from the name of one of the brightest stars in our universal galaxy. It is the "alpha star" of the planet Mercury constellation; it is also the brightest star in the northern Lyra group of stars. So Vega is a bright star! This book will use the term "VEGA" as an acronym to present my four steps for speaking. For example: V stands for the word "voice," E stands for "eye contact," G stands for "gestures," and A stands for "attitude." These four words will form the simple steps to help anyone speak like a star! Vega is a star! It is my hope and desire that these simple steps for speaking will assist anyone as they speak and/or strive to communicate with others. These steps have been used by me for over fifty years to have a very successful career as a speaker. It has been in my heart to write this manuscript on speaking to show that anyone can overcome their fear of speaking in front of others by using my simple steps called VEGA!

If anyone is in Christ, they become a new creation; the old has passed away and they have been changed. —2 Corinthians 5:17 (RSV) There is no cost to the great God Almighty in the miracles of creation or even in raising the dead. He does these simply because He is God. He speaks, and it is so. At His Word, the universes sprung into existence. But the greatest miracles of God are really not the miracles of glory but the miracles of grace! That is when God saves a person, and they are "changed" and become new creations in Jesus Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). The greatest miracle is when God transforms a sinner into a saint! This book is about one of those greater miracles in the story of Ted Padgett. As you read this autobiography, you will read of a miracle in how God "changed" someone and directed his life toward ministry. This story is about a real and genuine miracle of a man who became "heaven born," is "heaven bound," and is "heaven blessed!" This is my story, and may God get any and all the glory from it!
