Humans have the inherent need to belong. Young Joshua, a four-year-old boy, is set to be moved to his second foster family home. He has lived with Nanny and Pops for most of his early years and only visited is biological family for minimal periods of time. Joshua’s genuine and authentic personality is fresh and honest. Sara and Mac, Joshua’s second foster mom and dad, must earnestly find loving ways of fostering a sense of belonging during Joshua’s time with them. Through a series of phone calls, the lives of Sara, Mac, Joshua, and his biological family become intertwined. They unite to help young Joshua attain a sense of belonging. Come along on this journey and experience life as the resilient, vulnerable, and courageous character of Joshua does.
Kindergarten is an island of its own. Have you ever wondered what's behind the classroom door? Have you ever wondered why the noise level is pleasantly above the quieter levels of the Grade one to eight classrooms? From the moment the students walk through the classroom door in the morning, to the time they depart at the end of the day, every single second is a teaching and learning moment, for both teacher and learner. As educators, how do we humble ourselves in a way that glorifies God? It's a lifelong learning journey. The stories in this book were lived and experienced through the eyes of a kindergarten teacher who had the honour and privilege to teach students over a thirty-year career.
