Due to the increasing pressure of a globalized economy and under the effects of a changing climate, biological invasions have become a frequent feature of marine and freshwater environments. Global fisheries and aquaculture are therefore required to adjust to these changes, with the dual aim of reducing the negative ecological consequences caused by these species and making the most of the advantages they might bring. Here, capitalizing on a wide spectrum of management actions which can be implemented to control and/or adapt to aquatic invasions, nine measures are presented; they can be grouped under environmental, social or socioeconomic strategies, exploring their potential, main challenges and enabling factors. The nine measures, provided with key recommendations, are: #1: Develop and manage a commercial fishery #2: Promote recreational harvesting #3: Explore market opportunities #4: Implement outreach programmes #5: Foster stakeholder engagement #6: Implement spatial control #7: Implement biological control #8: Restore ecosystems #9: Do nothing These suggestions, discussed among a group of international experts and presented in a synthetic form, may be used as a practical resource (though not an exhaustive one), to aid in the evaluation and identification of appropriate fisheries management responses to aquatic invasive species in the context of climate change. While it may not address all the complexities of the subject, it provides a starting point for adaptation strategies, recognizing the diverse legal, cultural and socioeconomic conditions in different fishery contexts, offering valuable insights for policymakers, fisheries managers, and practitioners who have to deal with aquatic invasions.

The first three chapters provide overviews of key children's environmental health issues as well as the role of environmental epidemiology and risk assessment in child health protection. Overarching themes are the susceptibility of the rapidly developing fetus and infant to environmental toxicants, the importance of modifying factors(e.g. poverty, genetic traits, nutrition), the role of health outcome and exposure monitoring, uncertainties surrounding environmental exposure limits, and the importance of timely intervention. Later chapters address the health effects of metals, PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, hormonally active agents, radiation, indoor and outdoor air pollution, and water contaminants. In analyzing potential environmental hazards, the author addresses both biologic and epidemiologic evidence, including the likelihood of causal relationships. Among the health outcomes he discusses are developmental, reproductive, and neurobehavioral effects, respiratory disease, cancer, and waterborne infectious diseases. These discussions cover environmental exposure sources/indicators, interventions, and standards, and conclude with a summary of calls for an improved science base to guide public health decisions and protect child health.

He holds a Masters' degree in English from an American university, and he taught English in his home country, Iraq, and in Saudi Arabia and the United States. Presently, he is writing his major work titled Allah: The Concept of God in Islam in two volumes as well as A Dictionary of Islamic Terms, also in two volumes. This book is an attempt to bring Christians and Muslims of the world closer to each other, to bridge the gap between, to establish an alliance among them, so that they may together be able to face the challenges of the present and of the future. One of these challenges is extremism, the new menacing plague that is endangering the lives of so many people from both creeds and from others. Knowledge, right and accurate knowledge, is powerful, and such power can be put to good use: to clear misconceptions, remove doubts and suspicions and establish trust and understanding among followers of both creeds. Philosophically, this book cites many first-hand references to prove that, unfortunately, present day Christianity, regardless of any of its many denominations, has truly distanced itself from the original word preached by Jesus Christ. It traces the times and circumstances when concepts of "son of God", "Holy Trinity" and "salvation" crept into Christianity and distorted the pristine faith brought by Christ. At the same time, it highlights Qur'anic verses that beautifully paint a portrait of Jesus Christ and his saintly virgin mother, Mary, testifying to the truth brought by Christ, to his miracles, guidance and truth.
