Susy's first passion is her family, her husband and their three young children. Her second passion is helping her 9-year-old daughter, Sarah*, to live, love and laugh with ADHD. In her first book Saving Sarah: Learning to Live, Love and Laugh with ADHD Susy shares in raw, painful and honest detail, the dark side of parenting a child with ADHD but also paints the positive picture that people often don't see or understand. By sharing Sarah's story, Susy hopes to start a 'Positive ADHD movement' to remove the stigma, misunderstanding and labelling that comes with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. * Name has been changed to protect identity
** WINNER OF ILTA/SAGE Best Book Award 2020 ** Assessing English for Professional Purposes provides a state-of-the-art account of the various kinds of language assessments used to determine people’s abilities to function linguistically in the workplace. At a time when professional expertise is increasingly mobile and diverse, with highly trained professionals migrating across national boundaries to apply their skills in English-speaking settings, this book offers a renewed agenda for inquiry into language assessments for professional purposes (LAPP). Many of these experts work in high-risk environments where communication breakdowns can have serious consequences. This risk has been identified by governments and professional bodies, who implement language tests for gate-keeping purposes. Through a sociological lens of risk and responsibility, this book: provides a detailed overview of both foundational and recent literature in the field; offers conceptual tools for specific purpose assessment, including a socially oriented theory of construct; develops theory and practice in key areas, such as needs analysis, test development, validation and policy; significantly broadens the scope of the assessment of English for professional purposes to include a range of assessment practices for both professionals and laypeople in professional settings. Assessing English for Professional Purposes is key reading for researchers, graduate students and practitioners working in the area of English for Specific Purposes assessment.

Susy Smith insists she did not write this book. The author of twenty-four works on psychical phenomena is sure the information herein could not have originated within her own subconscious mind because it includes so much about which she could not possibly have any knowledge. She maintains instead that it came to her via automatic writing from a man who says he has been in the spirit world for more than sixty years. Having started her research in the psychical field some twetny years ago as a cynical, agnostic newspaperperson, Susy Smith fought against a belief in the possibility of spirit communication all during the time she was studying and researching the subject. Now, after publicaion of all her books—which include Life Is Forever, ESP and Hypnosis, How to Develop Your ESP, and Confessional of a Psychic, in which she tells of her own gradual psychical development—she admits to having become convinced of the survival of the human soul on the basis of evidence alone. Life is Forever gives case histories which have helped persuade her of this. The Book of James, however, does not bring evidence. It supplies a philosophy of life after death. Whoever wrote it … it is inspiring and challenging reading.
This book publishes, for the first time in full, the two most revealing of Mark TwainÕs private writings. Here he turns his mind to the daily life he shared with his wife Livy, their three daughters, a great many servants, and an imposing array of pets. These first-hand accounts display this gifted and loving family in the period of its flourishing. Mark Twain began to write ÒA Family SketchÓ in response to the early death of his eldest daughter, Susy, but the manuscript grew under his hands to become an exuberant account of the entire household. His record of the childrensÕ sayingsÑÒSmall FoolishnessesÓÑis next, followed by the related manuscript ÒAt the Farm.Ó Also included are selections from LivyÕs 1885 diary and an authoritative edition of SusyÕs biography of her father, written when she was a teenager. Newly edited from the original manuscripts, this anthology is a unique record of a fascinating family. Ê
The culmination of more than 20 years of research into the survival of consciousness after death, this pioneering work on psychic research considers such topics as extrasensory perception, hypnotism, hallucination, split personality, and related topics. Still considered by many to be the most comprehensive book on telepathy and the unconscious.

Susy Parker's daughter, Sarah, was diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety when she was just six years old. Months later she was also diagnosed with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). Saving Sarah charts her family's rollercoaster journey from diagnosis, through the consulting rooms of various specialists, their confusion over the conflicting medical advice they received and Susy's eventual decision to quit the medications and find her own way to save her daughter and their family. I am sharing Sarah's story to let other parents know that there can be another way and that miracles do happen, because a miracle happened to us. ADHD, it's just a different way to be.
