This book provides a comprehensive coverage of the state-of-the-art in understanding media popularity and trends in online social networks through social multimedia signals. With insights from the study of popularity and sharing patterns of online media, trend spread in social media, social network analysis for multimedia and visualizing diffusion of media in online social networks. In particular, the book will address the following important issues: Understanding social network phenomena from a signal processing point of view; The existence and popularity of multimedia as shared and social media, how content or origin of sharing activity can affect its spread and popularity; The network-signal duality principle, i.e., how the signal tells us key properties of information diffusion in networks; The social signal penetration hypothesis, i.e., how the popularity of media in one domain can affect the popularity of media in another. The book will help researchers, developers and business (advertising/marketing) individuals to comprehend the potential in exploring social multimedia signals collected from social network data quantitatively from a signal processing perspective.
The objections faced by the pharmaceutical sales professionals are different from the objections faced by the sales professionals of automobile, FMCG or electronic goods. The basic difference in pharmaceutical selling is; customers (doctors) are not buyers (patients). And thus the patterns of objections are also different. Thereby handling those objections is also different. Moreover, there is no specific guideline, literature or book written on the different objections faced by the pharmaceutical sales professionals. This has motivated me to write a book on objection handling, particularly for pharmaceutical sales professionals. In this book, etiology of objection, attitude towards objection, types of objection, strategy for handling objection, techniques of handling objection SLUAAC Technique, methods of handling objection have explained elaborately. And lastly 22 commonly encountered objections and how to handle those objections have been discussed. In this book more applied aspects have bben incorporated; because books meant for practical use should contain much of applied discussion.
Technical Report from the year 2019 in the subject Engineering - Robotics, grade: 9, , language: English, abstract: Robotic agents can be made to learn various tasks through simulating many years of robotic interaction with the environment which cannot be made in case of real robots. With the abundance of a large amount of replay data and the increasing fidelity of simulators to implement complex physical interaction between the robots and the environment, we can make them learn various tasks that would require a lifetime to master. But, the real benefits of such training are only feasible, if it is transferable to the real machines. Although simulations are an effective environment for training agents, as they provide a safe manner to test and train agents, often in robotics, the policies trained in simulation do not transfer well to the real world. This difficulty is compounded by the fact that oftentimes the optimization algorithms based on deep learning exploit simulator flaws to cheat the simulator in order to reap better reward values. Therefore, we would like to apply some commonly used reinforcement learning algorithms to train a simulated agent modelled on the Aldebaran NAO humanoid robot. The problem of transferring the simulated experience to real life is called the reality gap. In order to bridge the reality gap between the simulated and real agents, we employ a Difference model which will learn the difference between the state distributions of the real and simulated agents. The robot is trained on two basic tasks of navigation and bipedal walking. Deep Reinforcement Learning algorithms such as Deep Q-Networks (DQN) and Deep Deterministic Policy Gradients(DDPG) are used to achieve proficiency in these tasks. We then evaluate the performance of the learned policies and transfer them to a real robot using a Difference model based on an addition to the DDPG algorithm.
This book focuses on important interfacial phenomena, such as interfacial potential and interfacial multi-functionality, responsible for determining the fate of nanoparticles inside the biological milieu. Additionally, this book explores the role of surface defects in photocatalytic nanoparticles in defining the nanoparticle interaction to biological membrane and cytotoxic propensity. The authors describe the interfacial assembly of peptide/protein on conformational/functional dynamics of the peptide/protein, which may be adopted as an approach to moderate the protein misfolding diseases.
Optimization is used to determine the most appropriate value of variables under given conditions. The primary focus of using optimisation techniques is to measure the maximum or minimum value of a function depending on the circumstances. This book discusses problem formulation and problem solving with the help of algorithms such as secant method, quasi-Newton method, linear programming and dynamic programming. It also explains important chemical processes such as fluid flow systems, heat exchangers, chemical reactors and distillation systems using solved examples. The book begins by explaining the fundamental concepts followed by an elucidation of various modern techniques including trust-region methods, Levenberg–Marquardt algorithms, stochastic optimization, simulated annealing and statistical optimization. It studies the multi-objective optimization technique and its applications in chemical engineering and also discusses the theory and applications of various optimization software tools including LINGO, MATLAB, MINITAB and GAMS.
This Chapter discusses the importance of Morality in Higher Education, concerns with the ethical implications of educational research and teaching, particularly in the areas dealing with moral and spiritual issues. It considers the primary aim of education should be to equip the students with moral values particularly in teaching-learning, research and practice in profession and related fields. It worth, the true value of education lies on the brighten-up of human life through the strengthening of social, moral and spiritual senses. It describes the role of the authority in a higher educational institution to illustrate how some of the issues might be addressed effectively to ensure moral and ethical practice. It takes as a central premise that researchers and students should be encouraged to ‘think morally’ rather than simply apply a code or set of standards.
This book explores the emergence of identity politics and violence at the forefront of political life in an Indian state. Through a close reading of everyday politics in West Bengal, India, which until recently boasted of the longest-serving elected communist government in the world, the volume presents unique observations on Indian politics and its trajectories. One of the first ethnographic studies of religious polarisation and its interface with politics in West Bengal, this book: Offers a fresh perspective, both theoretically and empirically, by using longitudinal, multi-site ethnography, to explain the mechanisms by which identity issues have re-emerged; Studies key policy changes, political practices and series of invented traditions during periods of political transition; Examines intricate details of the micro-dynamics of the formulation and expansion of Hindu and Islamic fundamentalism and their political counterparts, which carry a capacity to push away secular, democratic forces from the existing political spectrum; Sheds light on the mechanisms of riots, its design, organisational bases and mechanisms of spread; Includes key observations from the 2021 elections in the state. The volume will be of great interest to scholars and researchers of political science, social and cultural anthropology, sociology and South Asian studies.
Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS): Newton Power-Flow Modeling of Voltage-Sourced Converter-Based Controllers introduces different voltage-sourced converter (VSC)-based FACTS controllers and VSC-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) systems and their working principles, explaining how FACTS controllers exchange real and reactive power with systems. Subsequently, the book: Describes the Newton–Raphson method and its application for solving the power-flow problem Presents the Newton power-flow modeling of the static synchronous series compensator (SSSC), unified power-flow controller (UPFC), interline power-flow controller (IPFC), generalized unified power-flow controller (GUPFC), and static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), accommodating the practical device constraint limits (because of the unique modeling strategy, the existing Newton power-flow codes can be reused) Develops a unified Newton power-flow model of AC systems incorporating multiterminal VSC-HVDC systems with pulse-width modulation (PWM) control schemes, directly yielding the VSC modulation indices from the power-flow solution Provides numerous case studies for validation of Newton power-flow models, elaborating on the occurrences and checking of unrealistic power-flow solutions in isolated cases Includes detailed derivations of all the difficult formulae as well as solved problems on typical VSC-based FACTS controllers Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS): Newton Power-Flow Modeling of Voltage-Sourced Converter-Based Controllers assumes at least an undergraduate-level understanding of engineering mathematics, network analysis, electrical machines, electrical power systems, and power electronics. Thus, the book provides a valuable reference for practitioners as well as senior-undergraduate and graduate students in electrical engineering and electrical power systems.
