The figure of the woman as hero in pastoral romance is shown to grow in importance and complexity in this important new study. The genre of pastoral romance flourished dramatically in Renaissance England between 1590 and 1650. One of its key elements is that it is the daughter, not the son, of the gentle family who increasingly becomes the subject of theromance's attempt to define and illustrate heroism. The pastoral heroine's task is paradoxical: to break out of her pastoral paradise in order to ensure its reconstitution. She is the princess, the shepherdess, the Lady, or the virtuous daughter who becomes a repository of honor and virtue in a changing society where traditional chivalric definitions of honor hold decreasing purchase. This groundbreaking book examines the typical challenges facedby the pastoral romance heroine as she matures within the pastoral locus amoenus: the foundling dilemma; the loop-shaped quest: the rhetorical battle; the chastity threat; the reconciliation of beauty to virtue; and familial reunification. It illustrates how the allegorical, symbolic, and psychological characterizations of pastoral heroines in the works of Sidney, Spenser, Wroth, Fletcher, Milton, and Marvell anticipate developments in the representation of female subjectivities normally associated with the novel. Have you ever wondered if you have psychic powers? The short answer is you do! Everyone has the ability to be clairvoyant, clairsentient, clairaudient, or any combination of these three. Not everyone is receptive to accepting their psychic powers, usually because they don’t know how to develop their abilities, they fear their abilities, or they are in denial. Awaken the Psychic Within welcomes you to the world of creating and developing psychic awareness by giving practical, engaging examples of how you can open your heart and mind. Throughout her lifetime, author Debbie-Sue Van Rangelrooy wrestled with accepting her psychic abilities. Seven years ago, she made a decision to find out more, questioning if she had abilities or just a very creative imagination. At the beginning of her journey, Debbie-Sue asked every psychic she encountered how they did what they did, how they knew the information received was genuine. She received replies like “Faith,” “Trust,” and “Belief,” which she found frustrating until the day it all fell into place. In this book, Debbie-Sue shares her tools and techniques with the intent to inspire, encourage, and help others along their personal psychic journeys.

Now in 1815 they are all grown up and expected to join Society. Who will marry such independent and deadly misses? Trials of Artemis (Regency, Hot) Loving Lord Lucifer... An independent bluestocking sneaks into a library to read rare Greek texts and ends up with a husband instead. Jacqueline "Jack" Walters loves archery and Greek military history. In her third season she has failed to inspire so much as one marriage proposal and is planning to settle into the quiet life of a spinster. Gideon Wolfe, Earl of Harrington, has been avoiding marriage but a case of mistaken identity in the library has left him saddled with an argumentative and unwilling fiancée. What readers are saying: "I enjoyed seeing the relationship play out between the two main characters, especially since the author decided to make them both forthright and honest with each other, being able to pick up on emotional cues, instead of relying on misdirection and misinterpretation to lengthen the story, as is usually the case in this genre." "Their characters and their relationship develop at an almost perfect pace as the book progresses (with bumps along the newlywed road, of course). If you like a strong female, this is the book for you.
