Framed by a century and a half of racialized Chinese American musical experiences, Claiming Diaspora explores the thriving contemporary musical culture of Asian/Chinese America. Ranging from traditional operas to modern instrumental music, from ethnic media networks to popular music, from Asian American jazz to the work of recent avant-garde composers, author Su Zheng reveals the rich and diverse musical activities among Chinese Americans and tells of the struggles of Chinese Americans to gain a foothold in the American cultural terrain. She not only tells their stories, but also examines the dynamics of the diasporic connections of this musical culture, revealing how Chinese American musical activities both reflect and contribute to local, national, and transnational cultural politics, and challenging us to take a fresh look at the increasingly plural and complex nature of American cultural identity.
This book discusses recent advances in the estimation and control of networked systems with unacknowledged packet losses: systems usually known as user-datagram-protocol-like. It presents both the optimal and sub-optimal solutions in the form of algorithms, which are designed to be implemented easily by computer routines. It also provides MATLAB® routines for the key algorithms. It shows how these methods and algorithms can solve estimation and control problems effectively, and identifies potential research directions and ideas to help readers grasp the field more easily. The novel auxiliary estimator method, which is able to deal with estimators that consist of exponentially increasing terms, is developed to analyze the stability and convergence of the optimal estimator. The book also explores the structure and solvability of the optimal control, i.e. linear quadratic Gaussian control. It develops various sub-optimal but efficient solutions for estimation and control for industrial and practical applications, and analyzes their stability and performance. This is a valuable resource for researchers studying networked control systems, especially those related to non-TCP-like networks. The practicality of the ideas included makes it useful for engineers working with networked control.
This book provides recent advances in analysis and synthesis of Large-scale network systems (LSNSs) with sampled-data communication and non-identical nodes. In its first chapter of the book presents an introduction to Synchronization of LSNSs and Algebraic Graph Theory as well as an overview of recent developments of LSNSs with sampled data control or output regulation control. The main text of the book is organized into two main parts - Part I: LSNSs with sampled-data communication and Part II: LSNSs with non-identical nodes. This monograph provides up-to-date advances and some recent developments in the analysis and synthesis issues for LSNSs with sampled-data communication and non-identical nodes. It describes the constructions of the adaptive reference generators in the first stage and the robust regulators in the second stage. Examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed design techniques.
Singular time-delay systems are very suitable to describe a lot of practical systems such as manufacturing systems, networked control systems, power systems and electrical circuits. Thus, the past two decades have witnessed a significant progress on the theory of singular time-delay systems, and many fundamental and important topics have been successfully investigated including stability analysis, stabilization, guaranteed cost control, filtering, observer design, sliding mode control and so on. The main objective of this book is to present the latest developments and references in the analysis and synthesis of singular time-delay systems with or without Markov jumping parameters in a unified framework. The materials adopted in this book are mainly based on research results of the authors. This book will be of interest to academic researchers working in singular systems, time-delay systems and Markov jump systems and to graduate students interested in systems and control theory.
This is a concise handbook providing a quick clinical reference on Chinese medicinal treatments for many diseases, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and practice. Organized by different clinical conditions and diseases, it provides clinicians and healthcare professionals with definitions and recommended treatment methods, especially herbal medicine formulae. In addition to being a comprehensive quick reference source, this handbook also conveys a generalized understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
This thesis focuses on the construction and application of an electron radiation belt kinetic model including various adiabatic and non-adiabatic processes. The terrestrial radiation belt was discovered over 50 years ago and has received a resurgence of interest in recent years. The main drivers of radiation belt research are the fundamental science questions surrounding its complex and dramatic dynamics and particularly its potential hazards posed to space-borne systems. The establishment of physics-based radiation belt models will be able to identify the contributions of various mechanisms, forecast the future radiation belt evolution and then mitigate its adverse space weather effects. Dr. Su is now an Professor works in Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China.
Once Gu Qingyi had transmigrated, she was actually forced to marry a cold, ghost-faced prince. Wasn't this pushing her into a fire pit? Only when she was strong could her mother take care of her completely. When she looked at her, her left hand flipped over the clouds, her right hand fell down the rain, her concubine was destroyed, and she beat up the plastic sisters' flowers, leading her mother to stand above everyone else in the capital. [What does this man want?] "Your Highness, here is the letter. We have nothing to do with each other!" "Bang!" The man took it in his hand and it turned into dust in an instant. It's gone now!

Was there anyone in the world more tragic than her? He just had to squat on the toilet and cross over to the body of a trash with four spiritual roots. After being duped into learning the Affliction Transformation technique, he would have to go through countless emotional tribulations in order to master the Great Dao and be dumped numerous times from then on.
