I wrote these quotes to remind my sons of all the things I tried to instill in their hearts while growing up. In "training them up in the way they should go" I wanted them to know that wisdom is more important than material things. With outside forces being so strong, it is critical to strengthen our children "inside". The title of the book says it all because the content is a little that shares a lot. It is also simple enough for all to understand and broad enough to cover a lot of life lessons for ages 0 through 100 years of age. Hopefully my sons have absorbed the wisdom that I have shared the same way I sponged in what my parents shared with me. I also hope that everyone that reads this book can relate to some of the things presented, will enjoy the wit and wisdom, and find something useful for their lives.
We only have the frozen Mississippi to cross...if we get through this...' Virginia continued to walk beside the wagon as she trudged through the snow, her hand in Allen's, her thoughts lingering on her dead sister, buried outside Gallatin, just yesterday. Then she stopped and looked back. Joseph Smith was not with them this time. He was in the hands of the mob awaiting execution for treason. It had been a long time since those desperate days in Missouri. The temple in Salt Lake City had taken forty years to build. Virginia looked up at the granite structure and thanked God she had been allowed to live to see it finished. Today her grandsom would be sealed there.--Back cover.
A controversial volume dispelling current misconceptions about prenatal care In this controversial volume, Dr. Strong dispels widespread misconceptions about the effectiveness of prenatal care in its current form and explains how mothers themselves may influence the course and outcome of their pregnancies to a greater degree than do their obstetricians. He provides specific questions that parents should be asking their health care providers to ensure that they and their babies receive the best care possible.
The contents cover a middle aged middle-aged with two young children that sold their home and risked all by heading west in search of a fortune gold during the California gold rush in1849. Of course, they experienced some of the expected dangers, but also quite a few that they were unprepared for. In the book, the reader will enjoy learning about surprises that would be normally thought of in association with such a tough, rugged trip of this nature. The high point is the ending, which should not be read first. Unlike some writings, this would ruin the whole story. My hope and desire is that you thoroughly enjoy reading the story and tell friends and neighbors about it, in order that they can not only enjoy it, but also glean some interesting facts about life in a wagon train, as well as some interesting historical information. Good reading!
