This IBM® RedpaperTM publication describes IBM SpectrumTM Scale, which is a scalable, high-performance data and file management solution, built on proven IBM General Parallel File System (GPFSTM) technology. Providing reliability, performance and scalability, IBM Spectrum ScaleTM can be implemented for a range of diverse requirements. This publication can help you install, tailor, and configure the environment, which is created from a combination of physical and logical components: hardware, operating system, storage, network, and applications. Knowledge of these components is key for planning an environment. However, to appreciate potential benefit first requires a simpler understanding of what IBM Spectrum Scale actually provides. This publication illustrates several example deployments and scenarios to demonstrate how IBM Spectrum Scale can be implemented. This paper is for technical professionals (consultants, technical support staff, IT architects, and IT specialists). These professionals are responsible for delivering cost-effective cloud services and big data solutions, helping to uncover insights among client data and be able to take actions to optimize business results, product development, and scientific discoveries.

Games, or contexts of strategic interaction, pervade and suffuse our lives and the lives of all organisms. How are we to make sense of and cope with such situations? How should an agent play? When will and when won't cooperation arise and be maintained? Using examples and a careful digestion of the literature, Agents, Games, and Evolution: Strategies at Work and Play addresses these encompassing themes throughout, and is organized into four parts: Part I introduces classical game theory and strategy selection. It compares ideally rational and the "naturalist" approach used by this book, which focuses on how actual agents chose their strategies, and the effects of these strategies on model systems. Part II explores a number of basic games, using models in which agents have fixed strategies. This section draws heavily on the substantial literature associated with the relevant application areas in the social sciences. Part III reviews core results and applications of agent-based models in which strategic interaction is present and for which design issues have genuine practical import. This section draws heavily on the substantial literature associated with the application area to hand. Part IV addresses miscellaneous topics in strategic interaction, including lying in negotiations, reasoning by backward induction, and evolutionary models. Modelled after the authors' Agents, Games, and Evolution course at the University of Pennsylvania, this book keeps mathematics to a minimum, focusing on computational strategies and useful methods for dealing with a variety of situations.

Theologians today are facing a crisis of identity. Are they members of the academy or the church? Is it still possible to be members of both? In God and the Teaching of Theology, Steven Harris argues a way through the impasse by encompassing both church and academy within the umbrella of the divine economy. To accomplish this, Harris uses St. Paul’s description of this economy in the opening chapters of his first letter to the Corinthians. Through Paul’s discussion of wisdom, the Spirit, and the apostles’ role in sharing that divine wisdom, theologians of the patristic, medieval, and Reformation eras found a description of their own work as educators; they discovered that they too had roles within the same divine economy. This book thus offers a rich description of the teaching of theology as part of God’s own divine pedagogy, stretching from God the teacher himself, through the nature of students and teachers of theology, to the goal of this pedagogy: human salvation in the knowledge of God. In addressing the current identity crisis of theology faculties, Harris looks backward in order to chart a way forward. His book will appeal to academic theologians, and to theological and church educators, pastors, and Christians interested in the relationship between academic study and their faith.
