The Catalogue of the Ethiopic Manuscript Imaging Project (EMIP), volume 7, provides a full catalog for the collection of fifty-four manuscripts in the Meseret Sebhat Le-Ab collection at Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. These include one late fifteenth- or early sixteenth-century manuscript of Jubilees and the Minor Prophets. Each catalog entry provides a full physical description, a listing of contents (with incipits), illuminations, varia (known works added later), notes on codicology and scribal practice, as well as a full quire map. Opening articles provide an introduction to the collection, a biography of AlŠqa Meseret's life and work, an introduction to the Ethiopian musical tradition of Saint Yared, and a study on the textual character of the manuscript of Jubilees. Four indices (works, names, miniatures, and scribal practice) provide quick access for the researcher.

Scientists in the mid-20th century found that this diet was associated with longer life and less chronic disease. Over the last 5 years, nutrition researchers have identified which components of the Mediterranean diet, and in what amounts, lead to the observed health and longevity benefits. Dr. Steve Parker (M.D.), enhances the traditional Mediterranean diet by incorporating these latest scientific breakthroughs. The author reviews nutrition, psychological issues, and the consequences of overweight. Then, four different calorie-level eating plans are laid out. An individual's recommended caloric intake is determined by sex and weight. The eating plans approximate the traditional Mediterranean diet. Dieters choose from an extensive list of readily available foods. Easy recipes are provided but are optional. Dr. Parker, a medical school professor with 24 years¿ clinical experience, also emphasizes the importance of exercise for prevention of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, dementia, and heart attacks. A chapter is devoted to adaptation of the program by people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Later chapters discuss weight-loss surgery and weight-loss pills and nutritional supplements. The final chapter discusses prevention of weight regain. The appendix has a recommended reading list (bibliography), list of helpful Internet resources, and scientific journal references. An index is provided.

His development concept at the time of his death on December 15th, 1966 would be his team’s conceptual response to the ills of the inner cities and the sprawl of the megalopolis: the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow or, as it became known, EPCOT. This beautifully written, instantly engrossing volume focuses on the original concept of EPCOT, which was conceived by Disney as an experimental community of about 20,000 people on the Disney World property in central Florida. With its radial plan, 50-acre town center enclosed by a dome, themed international shopping area, greenbelt, high-density apartments, satellite communities, monorail and underground roads, the original EPCOT plan is reminiscent of post-war Stockholm and the British New Towns, as well as today's transit-oriented development theory. Unfortunately, Disney himself did not live long enough to witness the realization of his model city. However, EPCOT's evolution into projects such as the EPCOT Center and the town of Celebration displays a remarkable commitment by the Disney organization to the original EPCOT philosophy, one which continues to have relevance in the fields of planning and development.

Glaucoma is a group of disorders characterised by an abnormally high intraocular pressure (IOP), which can damage the optic nerve and lead to blindness. Glaucoma occurs in several forms: chronic open-angle (primary), acute angle-closure, congenital (inherited as an autosomal recessive trait), and secondary to other causes. Chronic open-ended glaucoma constitutes about 90% of the instances of glaucoma and is frequently familial in nature. Congenital glaucoma can be triggered by varicella, mumps, parvovirus, HIV and herpes among others. Secondary glaucoma can result from trauma and drugs such as steroids. This new book includes within its scope the prevention, pathogenesis, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. International research efforts are reported.

Moral rehabilitation is concerned with the ethical basis of the interactions between the individual who has offended and the people and organisations charged with providing rehabilitative services. Social rehabilitation explores the crucial contribution civil society can make to rehabilitation, exploring this through the lens of citizenship, community and social capital. Drawing on the conceptual insights offered in the late Stan Cohen’s seminal work – Visions of Social Control – and specifically his insistence that modern social institutions can aspire to doing good and doing justice, the authors argue that these values can underpin a moral pragmatism in designing social interventions that must go beyond achieving simply instrumental ends. Presents new developments on machine tool vibration control based on discontinuous dynamical systems Machining instability is a topical area, and there are a wide range of publications that cover the topic. However, many of these previous studies have started by assuming that the behavior of the system can be linearised. Meanwhile, there are many recent advances in the fields of signal processing, nonlinear dynamics, and nonlinear control, all of which are relevant to the machining stability problem. This book establishes the fundamentals of cutting mechanics and machine tool dynamics in the simultaneous time-frequency domain. The new nonlinear control theory developed by the authors that facilitates simultaneous control of vibration amplitude in the time-domain and spectral response in the frequency-domain provides the foundation for the development of a controller architecture universally viable for the control of dynamic instability including bifurcation and chaos. Once parameters underlying the coupling, interaction, and evolution of different cutting states and between the tool and workpiece are established, they can then be incorporated into the architecture to create a control methodology that mitigate machining instability and enable robust, chatter-free machine tool design applicable in particular to high speed micro- and nano-machining.
