PROPHETS Ancient and Modern SPEAK is a reference document which provides a topical arrangement of the vast majority of outstanding scriptural quotes of principles, truths, key figures, and familiar stories from the following: 1. The Old and New Testaments, with particular comprehensive focus on the four Gospels, to also include minimal introductory context for clarification. 2. The Book of Mormon, itself a document translated from engraved writings of prophets in Ancient America on metallic plates, and in modern times delivered to and translated by the young prophet Joseph Smith, Jun. through divine means. 3. The Doctrine and Covenants, a compilation of one hundred and thirty–eight revelations given primarily to the prophet Joseph Smith, Jun. 4. The Pearl of Great Price, visions and acquired papyrus, having been revealed and translated by divine means through the prophet Joseph Smith, Jun. 5. Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, a book compiled by the later prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, including background and source information for each entry. (See End Notes) 6. Proclamations to the world, by Joseph Smith, Jr. and other contemporary prophets regarding preeminent doctrines. The organization of several thousand entries in PROPHETS Ancient and Modern SPEAK, all considered pure scripture, is a modest attempt to gather comprehensively and representatively from the above-stated books and documents, the plain and precious truths revealed anciently and in relatively current times. The entries are arranged alphabetically under nearly sixteen hundred topic or subject headings, with cross-referencing throughout, and with many being placed under multiple related headings, to facilitate ease of access. Meticulous documentation is provided throughout the entire document. In the years since its first publication in 1830, the Book of Mormon has been taken in translated versions to most countries throughout the world, not only matching its Biblical companion in a vast world distribution, but more importantly, in presenting the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ in its fullness and purity. Indeed, The Book of Mormon provides throughout, another witness of Jesus Christ, as well as clear validation of the Bible—revealing much which has been taken out of the Bible over the centuries. The Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price have also been revealed, translated and distributed in a vast and similar extent throughout the world. Countless volumes have been written about the above-listed books ranging from a child’s animated versions to highly sophisticated, technical, archaeological and scientific studies of their early backgrounds and authenticity. Further, millions of followers testify of the truth and validity of Joseph Smith, Jr. as being the prophet through whom the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price have come into modern hands, declaring the Book of Mormon particularly as a book which will bring a person closer to God than any other book! This volume covers the years 1897 through 1899. While the Marion County Herald began in 1885, the first two years are missing because of the courthouse fire which occurrred in 1887. The clippings contained in this volume concentrate with notes of births, marriages, and deaths. It also contains articles which were important to the history and growth of the county. The history of the county is written in the pages of its earliest newspapers. Read what the ancestors of the people of Marion County were doing and talking about.

The earliest surviving issues of the Tribune were microfilmed by the State Archives in Montgomery and the film was studied for all announcements of births, marriages, deaths, obituaries, and news important to the history and development of Cullman County. The result is a fascinating book which details the early lives of Cullman County settlers recorded in the pages of its very first newspaper.

Chapters focus on four interrelated areas: applications and algorithms, device technology, architecture and systems, and software technology. While a petaFLOPS machine is beyond anything within contemporary experience, early research into petaFLOPS system design and methodologies is essential to U.S. leadership in all facets of computing into the next century. The findings reported here explore new and fertile ground. Among them: construction of an effective petaFLOPS computing system will be feasible in two decades, although effectiveness and applicability will depend on dramatic cost reductions as well as innovative approaches to system software and programming methodologies; a mix of technologies such as semiconductors, optics, and possibly cryogenics will be required; and while no fundamental paradigm shift in system architecture is expected, active latency management will be essential, requiring a high degree of fine-grain parallelism and the mechanisms to exploit it. If there is a price to be paid by those decisions it’s felt by those with the least political and financial clout. The book is broken up into many different segments all of which play a part in either illuminating particular themes mentioned above, sharing family insights, and of high proirity to the writer, rising in the mind of the reader the desire to question the previously unquestioned and if motivated challenge those previously unquestioned assumptions. I hope the reader finds this book as interesting to read as I found it to write.

Sterling studies six famous defenses spanning 2,500 years, representing both democratic and authoritarian regimes: the Long Walls of Athens, Hadrian’s Wall in Roman Britain, the Ming Great Wall of China, Louis XIV’s Pré Carré, France’s Maginot Line, and Israel’s Bar Lev Line. The Southern Democrat was established by Forney G. Stephens at Blountsville in 1894. After fellow newspaperman Lawrence H. Mathews of the Blount County News-Dispatch died in 1896, Stephens moved the Democrat to Oneonta. When the News-Dispatch folded in 1903, the Democrat was the preeminent Blount County newspaper. Stephens died in 1939, but the Democrat continued to publish in Oneonta for almost 100 years. In 1989 the old Southern Democrat was renamed the Blount Countain. Microfilm for the old Southern Democrat was acquired from the State Archives in Montgomery and studied page by page. Every mention of births, marriages, deaths, obituaries and news important to the history and development of Blount County was reproduced here. This book is vital for any serious student of Blount County, Alabama genealogy and history.

Sometimes, other details such as birthdays, were recorded. Additionally, details of all licenses returned unexecuted were recorded. The main part of the book is an alphabetical listing of all the grooms. A full name index of the brides follows in the last section. This book is a handy tool for those with ancestors in Cullman County, or surrounding counties.

This book is important to any genealogist or historian with connections to Cullman County and contains many rare accounts and mentions of the earliest settlers of the region.

Upon This Rock I will Build My Church Jesus says in Matthew 16:18, "And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." It was this divine revelation of Jesus being the Christ (Messiah, Anointed One), Son of the Living God, which gave Peter access to the keys of the kingdom. It is by this same revelation that a young monk named Marin Luther would declare and understand that the just shall live by faith, thus beginning a reformation of the church. This book is designed to continue the process of reformation, as in the 16th Century, where a partial reformation began to take place. Martin Luther, who we now realize was a prophet in his own right, was given a doctorate of theology at the University of Wittenberg (Germany) by the Electon Frederick, Duke of Saxony. This degree Staupitius was conferred upon him in October 19, 18 Dr. Michael P. Sterling 1512. This divine revelation caused him to speak boldly against certain indulgences, such as one could buy a soul from purgatory for ten shillings and not a farthing less. This indulgence was prefabricated in pretense by Pope Leo X, who succeeded after Julius II. This Pope Leo X imposed such ridiculous practices on the pretense of raising money for war against the Turks. Martin Luther began to oppose the Pope, much like a latter day Amos, who came to Bethel and heralded against King Jeroboam, King of Israel, and Amaziah, the Priest of Bethel. This prophet, Martin Luther, began the genesis of reformation. Martin Luther also was the first to translate the New Testament into the German language, which was September 1522. He studied the works of Desiderius Erasmus who prepared important new Latin and Greek editions of the New Testament. Martin Luther also finished the Pentateuch in 1523, thus completing the entire bible and publishing it in 1530. As we examine history we find that Martin Luther was a step ahead of William Tyndale. His great defiance was enacted as he nailed the 95th Thesis of Contention to the Wittenberg church door, as he declared his intolerance against the Roman Catholic corruption on Halloween night 1517. Martin Luther died of natural causes although he was branded a heretic by the Catholic Church. William Tyndale was not so lucky, and was burned at the stake in the public square (1596). Upon This Rock, Revival of the Five-Fold Ministry 19 As we examine church history we see a clear picture of martyrdom. And in its wake men like John Wycliffe, who was called the morning star of the Reformation era, who 200 years prior criticized abuses and false teaching in the Catholic Church. Yes, John Wycliffe, a professor at Oxford University, was expelled from his teaching position by the Pope, who also after his death exhumed his bones and had them burned. This is the price of Reformation. Let us examine for a brief moment John Huss, using Foxes Book of Martyrs as our source. John Huss was chosen as the pastor of the Church of Bethlehem in Prague. He also held a position as the Dean of Students and Rector at the University. He along with John Wycliffe were known as the pre-reformers. His teaching and revelation upset the pope, and he was also burned at the stake like so many spirit filled saints of the time period. It is noted in historical data that John Huss was heard singing in the midst of the flames as he went on to glory.
